along time ago in the ev documentation it said ambrosia wouldnt give away the forklift code what happend?
------------------
You can get the Forklift, you type in a code (I can't remember what it is) and this sound clip plays, confirming code entry. I think you have to click on "About EV" then type the code, if you got the code right, an added message appears at the end of the credits. Just a note, the Forklift is really cheap because it does an insane ammount of damage, if you are still exploring the game, I suggest you start a new pilot and get the Forklift for them. Anyway someone else will have to give you the code, I forget it.
------------------ Captain of the "Rebellion's Demise"
To get the forklift:
First, hold down option and click on the title graphic (the one that says Escape Velocity in big letters at the top of the screen).
Second, wait until you see something like "-MCB 4:35 A.M." and then hold down the following buttons: shift-control-option-command-F. I'm pretty sure you don't need all of those modifier keys, but it works with all four. You'll then hear a quick singing clip, and you'll have it on the currently opened pilot file.
I wouldn't use the forklift until you've played the game and done everything without cheating first.
------------------ If I write a letter to be put in a time capsule to be opened when time travel is possible, and if in my letter I ask for some item to be sent back in time to the point I sealed my time capsule, wouldn't that item appear just as I seal the capsule? Just a thought...
no offence or anything but i said how did the code get released?
Oh, in that case, the code probably got out when someone opened EV with ResEdit and looked around to see what they could see. Either that, or there is an informant in the ranks of Ambrosia... Scenario #1 is far more likely.
ya when you look at a program in resedit you can see all the source code. when the compiler says it is compiling the source code, it really just means it is copying the code in and wasing processor cycles to make it look like its doing something. all programming languages are interpreted.
unfortunatley, EV was written in assembly, not in C so it is hard to read the source code it all looks like 3919FFC19329!!! hee hee
but yes i am sure that some very dedicated individual looked over the ten or twenty million assembly instructions to find the key combination to get the forklift. there are lots of people that like looking at twenty million lines of assembly and hunting through it to find secret codes.
i, too, consider it very unlikley that someone who knew the code at ambrosia told someone else. it would be almost unthinkable.. i mean, when they say they won't tell anyone the secret code in their manual, they MEAN that!! theyll never tell anyone the secret code!! hee hee
