The Kind, when set to 1, makes the level an official boss level, with the flashing skull replacing the boring old square.
The valid, when set to 0, deletes a misplaced node forever.

The "kind" field tells MASCOT/Ferazel what the item is. Try making a new object other than a spell, and giving it the kind "2000".
Valid is used to hide the Dimbo on "River of fears". I'm not sure what values to use.

As far as the nodes/map section goes, the valid option lets you set a node's validitieditly (?) to 0 and let you erase a misplaced node, the kind option, when set to one makes the node appear as a boss level.
