You can get, depending on who you ally with, a Cloaking Device, a Particle Beam, and a Tractor Beam. You can get acess to buy Mantas, Rebel Cruisers, Rebel Destroyers, and Mass Drivers if you side with the Rebellion; and Confed Patrol Ships, Confed Gunboats, Confed Frigates, and Confed Cruisers of you side with the Confederation. That's in Version 1.0.5. I don't know about version 1.0.2.
As for Karma, the Moderators adjust your Karma baised on your behavior on the Board.

Same with 1.0.2 I believe. It might be a tad buggier, but I don't think any missions were added into it.

I'll admit it's pretty low but what does forge's karma have to do with this topic? I can't think of anything besides what 21st Century Digital Boy said, so I think your question is answered

The original questions are basically answered.
As for forge's karma: it's been mentioned numerous times. I believe there's a good amount of discussion about it in the Just Chat board, under "Karma AGAIN DANGIT."
He basically wanted bad karma, but his karma is constantly going up and down, hovering around -8. A few moderators are battling to get his karma in different directions. Just a minute ago he had -9 and before that he had -8 and before that -7 and before that -8..... etc. Boy forge you must be getting a LOT of emails to describe why your karma has been changed again... and again... and again...
