I'm sure other people have noticed this, but in various plugs, you get more than one fighter bay so as to launch multiple ships at once. However, if you have, say, two bays and you're down to one fighter, two fighters still emerge from your ship! Thus, you can keep on doing this until you have 36 fighters, I believe. In Empire and Galactic Scourge I used this handy little bug.
In GS I was in a Diphidian Destroyer and I just kept making more and more fighters and selling them so I could get a Rebel Defense Platform (I was invincible and not that slow in that platform, by the way, with various upgrades). Heh. Later on I found the magicfulnessation of the Alien Exterminator, which was quite handy for killing things.
In Empire, I used the bug in my Prototype Cruiser just to get more of those nice little Stingrays. (Starting on the second Empire, by the way. Great plugs!)
So, if anyone feels like doing a little semi-cheating, there ya go.

semi-cheating? i don't think so. that's just plain ol' cheating, sorry
------------------ Whoa, there's no such thing as a 7 stringed bass...yet
I don't think the limit is 36, however. I made a plug with dual launching fighters, and I got 40-something before I landed.

Ah, whatever the limit is....
actually, the limit SHOULD be 35, because only 36 ships are allowed in any given system at once

Hmmm... that's what I thought.... but I think MacMan is actually right, I've seen it go beyond that. I have no idea how, though.
