ok, I have played EV for hundreds of hours, and have successfully taken over the WHOLE universe. Every single planet. Even earth, luna, stardock alpha, mars, and Ruby. This may seem inpossibel, as these planets have over 3500 ships as defence(i have checked with ev-edit) but i have found out three bugs in EV that make this great feat possible. I have done it on a pilot named Rick_Hardslab(it is one of the three deafalt names in EV), who is in a confed cruser with 76 patrol ships, and 18 hawks wihout ever using a plugin! no cheator plugs ever. the tricks is listed below. these tricks/bugs also work in EVO, but not aswell, as the ships in that game often do not accept bribes.
there is a last trick, above a planet, place enuf space bombs to kill the ships that are launched in 1 hit, at once. demand tribute, and they will launch ships, all the ships will blow up, and no more will come out. replace the bombs, and do again, until the planet is dominated. this trick works especially well on the pirate planets, as they launch rapiers, which are killed by 1 space bomb, and most sell space bombs.
i figured out three awesome tricks. first, attack some ship and then right away, mesage them, and offer them a bribe. pay them, and then continue to attack them. they will not use any secondary weapons:-) makes big ships easy, cause they cant use fighters or missles or rockets.(any weapon that uses shift). only their turrents and cannons that fire with spacebar are used. that trick leads to another one. get in a ship with fighter bay, and attack and bribe, and disable other ships. then board them, and if they have fighters of your type, capture those. you can then capture many more than you can buy, and get hundreds of fighters, and you can launch all of them you want to.
That trick leads to the Third, and best trick, as you know there is a limit to the number of ships that can be in the system at once(around 50) if there is that many no more can come in, from bays, hyperspace, or planets. so you get six escorts, and a lot of fighters, have the escotrs hold position, launch all the fighters you are allowed to, makeing sure that no other ships are in the system. recall 1 fighter so that there is room for one more ship in system. tell all your escorts and fighters to hold postion with the "V" key, and then demand tribute on a planet (it works very well on earth) the planet will launch 1 ship, destroy it, than demand tribute again, they will launch another, do this areound 5 times, and they agree to pay you tribute.

Hey that one trick isn't something I've never heard of, the second and third ones I have, anyway the max ships in a system is 36. heres a modified way of doing it, make sure your escorts have fighters, at least one escort, fly way out. Have your escorts hold position fly back in, launch all your fighters, kill any ships in the system (so they don't hyperout while you are trying to dominate) recall one fighter, then tell your escorts to return to formation, it will take them a while to get back, then demand tribute once you kill their fighter, your escorts will launch one of their fighters, just demand tribute again and your set.
Heres another trick, that makes it even easier, A way to get unlimited escorts: Buy A confed cruiser or any ship with fighters, launch all fighters, then go and buy another confed cruiser, and your old fighters turn to escorts, making it easy to surpass the limit of 6.

Here's a good trick if you have the cloaking device. If some big, nasty ship(s) is attacking you, immediately cloak. Then uncloak. The attackers will sit still, and become extremely confused, wandering around, and most importantly disregarding you as a target. It's saved my butt numerous times.

The thing about using the max ships per system to dominate planets is kinda cheap, really, because there HAS to be a max, and exploiting it is. . .well. . .i shouldnt talk, i use it too. . .cheers!

Or you could just cloak when a large ship is attacking, and then have your escorts pummel it for you. Then, you decloak, fire at it, then recloak, and repeat the cycle.

Along with all the other tricks posted here, you could try this one (I'm not sure how many people actually know it). If you have a ship that can turn well, hold down the acceleration key and hold down one of the turning keys for about half a second, then immediately switch to the other turning key. Repeat the process. You will accelerate faster and you will exceed your max speed a bit too.

I have actually heard of all of these tricks before, and I believe they are in the Hints book that is or used to be downloadable in the addon section. EVula can probably relate she has been in the EVWeb board a bit longer than I, even though I have been here since the original IRC. I just only pop in to place messages if they catch my interest. You guys have most likely heard of these ones.
piss off your target(if necessary), then fly a decent amount away turn around and fly back while firing torps, they will reach the target at the same time and ulitimately rock the cruiser or whatever you are killing, THE ULTIMATE FLY BY. It is also useful if you have a cloak then you can just cloak and let the torps do their works as you watch.
piss off your target(if necessary), then fly so it is barely off the screen. Then keep your momentum going and unload your turrets on it. You can hit it but it can't hit you.
Alien Cruiser tactic: If you have trouble killing the alien cruiser then use this handy trick that I figured out myself(even though many others did as well)if you fly behind the alien heavy cruiser its beam can't hit you and it turns too slow, just stay behind it and ram your turrets/torps/missiles, up its butt.

Dear lord are you telling me that for 3 years I have thought that Divals, and EVula were female when they are male? I am an idiot! But anyway I am the same Matrix and I was around for roughly a year and a half before we transferred to these boards, then I didn't like these boards (didn't support the sigs I made and more)and decided to drop out a while, then I finally gave in and registered. I am stil pissed off that I made those sigs for nothing. I mean Zaphod's was really cool for a low size file. That is if you remember it.
