program problems

I have not played Escape Velocity in about two years, but not by choice--after I installed OS 8.1, it quit working. Now, I have OS 9 on an iMac, but it still won't run. Is this a common problem, is there a know solution?

i think mine stopped somewhere around system 8.x, but i think it worked again with 8.5 (though slower), and now that i've got my g4 w/ system 9 it's working fine (could be the fact that the processor's 4 times as fast, though...)

Thanks for your responses. I tried to get it going by deleting my prefs files, setting the memory allocations to 15MB, even deleting my registration file, but to no avail--the startup progress meter goes partway across, then it crashes, showing an out-of-memory error and turning the screen colors wonky. Have any of you had it crash in this way?

Your data files may be corrupted, try reinstalling the game to a seperate folder, it should work fine.

if its 2 years since you played, what version do you have? You probably need to download the latest version:
