O.K. I don't know if anyone has posted a topic like this but oh well.I wanna know what is the best fleet you've had in terms of trading or combat.Don't bother saying that someones fleet sucks just say whats good for you.

The only time I found fleets useful was... umm... nevermind. I have never found fleets useful. Fighters, on the other hand...

I would use Four rebel destroyers and two rebel cruisers (this is before I move to the next level). The speed and "annoyance/distraction factor" of the cruiser's fighters is very useful sometimes. Plus the cruisers are very good escorts, being responsive. They give your fleet extra punch. It's generally good to have a balanced fleet to cover all occations: cruisers for in-fighting durability and punch, destroyers for catching speed and good punch, and fighters for high catching speed and diversion. Besides, it looks cool having those extra fighters around.
A little story ... I had a Marauder and three Command Ships. I though that I would be able to totally kick ass. Of course, against anyone but aliens I could. However, in a fleet-to-fleet battle with an alien fleet, I had to use my pressious Marauder to defend the Command Ships against the Alien Attack Cruisers; not to take the offensive! Unfortunately, the Command Ships don't seem to have much more durability than the cruisers, certainly not a pack of them. If a Command Ship was lost, a Marauder would never be able to capture another since it apparently has a very small crew.

Well since I forgot to say mine i'd have to say for trading I liked: 2 shuttles 2 light freighters 2 lightnings I'm in a Corvette Sounds crappy but I like it because hiring them don't cost much and doesn't attract too much pirate attention.
