Kestrel

What is the quickest way for me to get enough money for a kestrel without getting torn up by pirates. I have a corvette with lots of add ons but no extra cargo pod, and I have 2 captured clippers. And dont tell me to capture a ship with a much larger crew than me, tell me some that I could probably catch. I only have a corvette and 2 clippers. 😛 😉

Try and capture a freighter of some sort. I think their crews are small enough to do it.

Why are there no maroon ships?

A. Go to Rebel Systems (be sure to stay 2 systems away from Confed or Independent systems).
B. Get an afterburner.
C. Attack merchant ships, take their money + cargo. Capture ship if you can.
D. Repeat as necessary: sell cargo @ nearest place where you can.
E. Be sure not to attack if there is a Confed Ship nearby you can't kill.

That, my friend, is how to get a Kestrel.

Why the two-system distance? Is this a minumum distance necessary to keep your record in Confed and indie systems from being marred by acts against merchant vessels? If so, I did not know of this...

anything you do is recognized, to some degree, by all systems within two jumps. this means killing pirates can make them happier with you and killing anyone else can piss them off. rebels, however, don't mind you killing merchants and stuff, so i usually park myself around persephone (palshife's nice, but there's always those interceptor mantas that make you accidentally shoot them, which pisses off the rebels) and kill as long as there's no confeds in the area. killing confeds anywhere will piss the confeds off, though, so don't do any killing w/ confeds in the system if you want to keep a good confed status

Do the mission strings for the trading companies, then you get petitive missions worth over 100,000 a go!

Get a good combat rating, (I forget how good) and go to a pirate planet. Eventually you will get a mission to help a UGE guy. Take it, and follow it through.

I don't know. I don't even bother with the argosy. I go from Shuttlecraft -> Scoutship -> Rapier -> Cruiser. I hunt pirates personaly, just sit in Darven in kill em with torp's. Cheap and easy if you do it right. Try to capture disabled kesrels, acasionally you get lucky.

P.S. Whurp, you live in Naniamo for real? I live in Vancouver.

Preee-cisely. It depends on system to system, but for the most part, I have found that attacking merchant ships when two systems away from independent and Confed systems tends to keep your legal rating clean...that is, as long as you don't blow up any Confed ships (which I have trouble doing, sitting there in a fully-loaded Rebel cruiser with six Kestrel escorts) 😄

Woohoo, Im on my way, I went to the Darven system and I just sit there, disable the pirates, then plunder their ships. when Kestrels come in I just pay the lightning fighters and then I wait for the kestrel to unload its secondaries, its easy then, and they have the most money. I have 3.93 million credits currently, and my ship trade in is 1.16 million credits. But seeing how kestrels are without their fighter escort makes me wonder... Oh well, I still want one 😄 😉 🆒

Hey, Get off my side of the escape pod!

I like to go to Antares and disable bulk freighters. I take their stuff and try to capture their ship. I sell the cargo on Diphidia, then go back to Antares and do it again. It annoys the confeds, but hey I'm a rebel.

I never bother with cargo unless it is stuff that is sold for alot of money :), but I don't like freighter escorts, they get annouying pirates following you and I can't get credits of em. I kill merchants as well cause I kill pirates so I earn alot of it in Darven (lots of money :))

YAY! I now have a Kestrel. I decided to temporarily become a pirate around Palshife (Rebels dont care) That got me way more money and it was quicker. Whenever I need money I think Ill go give the Palshife merchents a visit... 😉

Do many missions, disable ships and do the missions for the rebellion...Then you get enough money.....

Hey, how do I get my lightnings to attack someone??? They wont aattack hostile targets when they come in, but they will folow me around until I order them to return to the mother ship... What is the control to make them attack?

------------------
Hey, Get off my side of the escape pod!

Use the tab key to select the target ship then the "F" key to order the escorts to attack the selected vessel.
By the way, in some plug-ins Pirates have their own mission strings which you'll have a hard time starting since you are attacking their vessels.

Ripley: "These people are here to help you. They're soldiers."
Newt: "It won't make any difference."
"Aliens"

------------------

Ah, okay. I started experimenting with them in the Satori system near Palshife... 😉
