Missions

What happened to the mission string description area of the old Escape Velocity site? It made the game so much more enjoyable because it cut out all the boring guesswork of trying to achieve status or finding the right planet for the start of mission strings. Often if there is a low probability of recieving a mission and it is only on one planet, its just about impossible to get. If it can't be found here, then does anyone know of a similar thing on another site? Where are descriptions, locations, and probabilities of missios?
Thanks

In the data file. 😛 Seriously, I don't know what you're talking about. And you're supposed to do the 'boring guesswork' yourself, as it's a strategy game. You can still ask around for help, though..

LOL...Tiger has a more appealing smile. 🙂

Actually, most folks tell me that I look like Andre Braugher (from the television show "Homicide" and the film "City of Angels")...

Someone please help me! I've done about 4 or 5 secret missions for the Rebels (Spy from Earth, Commandos blowing base up, SEAL, scientist, etc.)and I want to join the rebels. The Rebel commander has given me "one last mission" where I have to destoy a confed. passenger ship which holds a secret wepon, in Ruby. It's not there. Where is the ship, and how do I join the Rebels?
Thanks
Ian

Hmmm...it's been a while since I played EV - been addicted to Diablo II... 😄
Anyway, you've already joined the rebels...as a mercenary, that is. In order to be able to buy Rebel ships, you have to complete the alien mission available at any Rebel stellar. Are you sure the ship isn't there? Check the surrounding systems...

I only found out were the ship was when I looked at the missions string, can't remember what system, but it wasn'y ruby. (been playing Q2 & Q3)

I suggest just dumping the mission. You don't need to do that mission to get the alien string. Just kill alot of pirates and confeds and the rebels will like you and give the alien string.

Those who stand, will always fall.

It is also good to note the fact that IF you happen to take the Confed courier mission and not the Rebel ones, you will never get the rebel Alien mission, and thus miss out on all those cool ships. 😄

The passenger ship is not AT ruby, but instead is on it's way to Ruby, from the system where you rescued th especial ops team from. It's in the trugati asteroid field, or around there, in one of the uninhabited systems like Castor, near Agena and Adhara and the like. It will jump in just after you jump in, so give it a few seconds before deciding to jump out. There'll be a lot of patrol ships and gunboats, but if you've got a kestrel (or even a modified Corvette like I had at the time) then it should be easy. Watch out though, because the weapon is in one of those weak little ships that VIPs are transported about in, so they blow up very easily. It also jumps out almost as soon as it jumps in, so you gotta be quick, and be sure not to destroy it, or the mission is failed.
To get the Alien missions (which gets you 10mil Credits and access to the rebel ships and technologies) then you have to go down to Sirgil III or Sirgil Starport. They offer you a job to go to Nexus to investigate disturbances, and it follows on from there. NOTE: I recommend getting the tractor beam from the retrieve weapon mission (which I described above) because it allows you to hold the alien cruiser in place while you pound it with your proton turrets or whatever. If it gets away, then the shields regenerate superquick, which makes it important to stay within gun range - missiles and rockets and torpedos knock it away from you due to it's low mass, so just hold it in place with the tractor beam and pound it with guns. It might take a while (it has a shield rating of 1500), but if you stay aout of the way of it's beam, you'll be alright.
