Courier: Argosy. Easy to manouver through blocades and fast enough to get away from lock- on missiles. And the cargo space is large enough to accept a few missions as well. Fighter: Lightning. Fast. Reasonably equipped with guns and weapons and can give a solid blow to other ships. Tested it without using the "distance shoot em in the front" manouver and I knocked out Argosy's, Hawks, Defenders, other Lightnings, Confed Fighter, 4 Mantas and believe or not, a Kestrel. Only crap thing about it is the lack of cargo hold. Warship: Rebellion Cruiser ( with acceleration, engine and turning upgrade, a layer of tritanium and ONLY proton turrets or guns. ) Though the shields arent as good as the Confed Cruiser, this ship offers better conditions under attack. If you keep the Manta fighters and buy some Hawks as well, no one can mess around with you. Also good cargo hold so you can use that to get some more upgrades.
------------------ From MarVin...
The scoutship is the coolest ship for doing freight missions. I'd say the best warship is the Rebel cruiser, even when it isn't upgraded, it has awsome turning and maneoverbility.

Those things, those things! They're all around, they hide in the corners until they see light...
Corvette, of course. I don't upgrade any higher. The more powerful ships aren't worth their lack of speed. (And anyway, with me at the helm, there AREN'T any more powerful ships!) The Corvette, when properly modified (for about ç200,000) (ç means credits) is THE ultimate warship. And it doesn't take more than a day or 2 to amass the 2.5 million credits you need.
And no cheating, either!

A fully enhanced Rapier is my fav by far, it can carry enough torpedoes to take out a confed cruiser while being a sinch to dodge anything with. Better than a rebel cruiser even apart from the fact that just flying a slow cruiser is so boring. Does anyone else find that kestrels just suck?
Battling: Alien batle ship. It has great turn, speed, accelleration, and it's pretty strong and puts up a good fight. But not so good of a load it can hold.

Or have I been using to many cheater plugs?
You must have to many cheater plugs :).
Mine is a Lightning not sped up or nothin. Fast, plenty of weapons, good dodging, capable of takeing out a confed cruiser if done right.
Now if I want shear power, I go with the Confed Cruiser with all the engine, turn, accel, and thrust inhancements. Turns faster then the Rebel Cruiser with all said and done. Holds enough weapondry to destroy alot of ships. I manly use torpedoes and close combat, so 4 proton turrets are always on there. I normally capture these ships hehehehe.
