Final Battle

1. Confeds ROCK! Seriously, their ships are all better than their Rebel equivalents. And the Rebels are probably Commies accusing the Confeds of corruption because the Confeds tried to stop the commies. Then the Confeds deny it...

2. How do you get the fight-the-aliens and kill their homeworld string? The missions don't work! (And the Confed string)

Thanx

The Rebellion Rebelled because they were denied representation in congress and taxed more then the core worlds. If the Rebels were commies, I could understand representation being taken away but never unequal taxing. No true rebublic would do that. The confeds are a bunch of corrupt, self-centered Motherf***ers.

Well how about final battle then?

And the Rebels were overtaxed so they couldn't start a revolution. Unfortunatley, they made a deal with pirates.

1.What about the Rebel Carrier(can easily destroy a BattleStar)?
2.I couldnt find a way to complete the Destroy Homeworld mission, I think its impossible.

Motives for the Rebellion - plenty. How did you get the idea that the Rebels were communists/Marxists-Leninists? EV's story claims that the "core worlds" (Earth, Landfall, etc.) exploited the outer worlds' resources, and the Rebels formed because of this oppression - overtaxing, underrepresentation in Confed Senate, etc. Supposed to sound like colonial America under England, I guess. Of course, "oppression" is rather vaguely defined. . . and the rebels did not strike a deal with the pirates (according to canon sources - plugins don't count), they were supported by friendly corporations and the like. In this rebellion, ideology has nothing to do with the fighting. Freedom does. The Confederation was formed to defeat the alien menace, but it never went away. IMHO, the Confederation is ruled by a corrupt military junta exploiting for short-term gain, unwilling to lose the power they gained during the Great War. The Confederation as we know it is not a "confederation" per se, but a despotism/empire, with distincly imperialist leanings.

Rebel ships are roughly equivelant to Confed ships - their weapons/shields are weaker, but they are faster and have other advantages.

Final Battle? Know nothing about it. Play Pale - the single greatest add-on plug ever for EV. And since you're a Confed lackey, you'll be happy to know you get to disentegrate dozens of Rebel ships as a central part of the plot.

I'm waiting for the day when "this side up" arrows appear on grocery bags.

Does anybody know about the Final Battle II website? I've been there before and then it misteriously disappeared. Anybody know at all?

Final Battle II: Xenocide is dead. Completely, utterly dead. This topic was too, until you decided to dig it up from an honorable grave. If you're looking for plugins, try (url="http://"http://coldblood.cjb.net")Cold Blood(/url), the best plugin I've seen since Frozen Heart.

They're blue.

They're tacked USS

If it's Earth, it's probably good.

The Rebels have crappy fighters.

The Confeds have killer cruisers.

Their missions and ship graphics are better.

I thought the Rebells rebelled because the feds used up too many of the Rebells resources, at least I thought I read it in the intro when you start a new pilot.
But, the feds kick, and anyway, rebellion causes countries to fall, right?

Jack the happy gamer.

Directly from the intro text:

**But the elite and powerful members of
the Confederation were reluctant to give
up their power after the end of the War,
and began a rule of oppression and
tyranny, aided by the powerful
Confederation Navy.

They exploited the outer colony planets
for the benefit of the wealthy Core
Worlds, stripping them of their
resources and coercing the colonists
into forced labor.

This reign of terror lasted for fifteen
years; then the insurrection began.

The outer colonies, weary of the
Confederation’s practices of exploiting
their land and denying them any
representation in the Senate, formed an
organized rebellion aimed at destroying
their oppressors.

In time, their pitiful forces grew, with
the help of sympathetic corporations,
into a formidable navy.**

Erm, not quite. 😉

After FB, I started making FB2, which quickly became sub-titled 'Xenocide'. However, the scenario diverged from FB, so it eventualy had nothing to do with the original plugin. At this point, it became simply 'Xenocide'.

Xenocide was well underway long before EVO, and it became readily apparent that the engine was too limiting for the scenario, so I started coding a new one. It became known as Epsilon.

So, FB2 is dead. Xenocide, while not dead, is pretty heavily sedated. Epsilon, on the other hand, is alive and kicking (And located at my signature's URL.)

As far as FB's ships go: If you say rebel fighters suck, you've never seen a Stingray. I love those things.. 😉

Ladies and gentlemen, we now have a new record for least-posting oldie ever, beating out even HellHunter. Skyhawk has a total of (drumroll) 4 posts.

It has been said, Skyhawk, that you died/went on to live a non-EV-oriented life. How do we interpret this second coming? 🙂

Skyhawk, remember that you created the Confederate BattleStar (and the Rebel Carrier is a VERY cheapo, biased, and lame ship, no offense to the good graphics) Also note that the missions dont work. (But I keep the plug because I was able to engineer my copy of EV so that they did work but I've forgotten how I did it)

Yes, the carrier is cheap. I balanced the availability of the plasma turrets and gave the 'feds a roughly equivalent weapon (It was sort of a shockwave thing that could rip apart fighters) and fixed the missions at one point, but suffered a harddrive failure before I could release the update.

Final Battle 1.0 and 2.0 didn't have the mission problems (I didn't release it with them), but someone else did 3.0 and messed some of the stuff up.. fortunatley, 4.X is apparently relativley bug-free. (Or so I hear.)

(B)If enough people care about this, I'd be willing to give it a thorough once-over and re-release it.(B)

Also, I hate all the graphics from the plug, with the exception of the Stingray, the pirate ship that looks very similar to the bulk freighter, and a couple others. My least favorite ship is the Jade. 😃
