It's damn easy. Double-click after taking a peek at the documentation, then edit away.
Oh, you're emulating. Sorry, just save up to get a cheap Mac. Or contact Ardi.

Also note that Schmelta V messes up the CanAbort field. It is not serious, but if you fail a mission it shows up in the info window with a dot infront and does not go away by itself.

Actually, that's supposed to happen for missions you that you fail.

Not exactly. A plugin designer has a choice (which Schmelta does not give you). To quote the bible (Book of Resource Descriptions, Chapter 7)
The next field tells EV whether or not the mission can be aborted.
CanAbort 0 Mission can't aborted, you must go to ReturnStel in order for it to "go away" and become inactive
Nonzero Mission can be aborted at any time, by simply selecting another mission. Also, the mission "goes away" and becomes inactive at the moment it fails (e.g. you're scanned when you aren't supposed to be, etc.).
In standard EV, failed missions go away because CanAbort = 1. Look with ResEdit for yourself. Obviously, the first part of the CanAbort text does not quite work. Perhaps that will be fixed in EVO 1.0.2.
Oh, I must say the Dr. Strangelove (which is nicely juxtaposed by Failsafe and On the Beach) was one of my favorite films when I was in high school. Excellent taste, ColdFusion.
