Big planets in my new plug Mugabi and Destiny mess up the comm table. Resizing the DITL in my copy of EV works, but if I place the correct new DITL into my plug-in, it does not want to override the original DITL in EV. Am I missing something, or is this best left alone?

You need to resize the appropriate DITL resources and place that and the approprite DLOG resources in the plug.
