As a plug-in maker, I tend to stuffa round in ResEdit a bit, so I'm always finding stuff (like the Haikus and the second About poem) but recently I stumbled upon a weird button-'back room'. I figured it would be in like a spaceport bar so you could smash someone's head in, but I failed to find where the button is in the game. Does anyone else have the same problem, or am I just totally lost?
Yep your totally lost

sorry maybe im the one whos totally lost
Originally, it was going to be a feature, but either they didn't finish it or they decided to leave it out. Anyways they left the button in there to torment us hackers.

A little clarification on EV's easter eggs and hidden buttons:
The haikus can be accessed from within EV - just type "x" on the main menu.
The second about poem can also be read inside EV - it's some key combination (shift?) and clicking on the EV title on the main menu.
About the buttons - there are four (I think) buttons that are not used in the game - "Wormhole," "Buy a Drink," "Back Room," and "Requisition Escort." There is also an escort selection dialog that was never used. All of these things were implemented or were going to be implemented during development, but Matt Burch decided to take them out for some reason or another.

I always wondered if you could incorporate this unused stuff into a plug or something? Can I?

not likely. from the way i understand, the buttons can be modified, but you can't create any new windows that use those buttons. so, i suppose if you changed the button ID's you could have an auto-fail mission that buys you a drink...
