Everybody (okay, just most people) knows you start the game with a loan. My question to you is, when do you pay it off, and why?
I generally pay it off pretty quickly, so I don't have to pay as much each month, but I'm starting to wonder if that's the best strategy. Certainly it takes cash to make cash, and if I can get that upper-level software sooner, I should be able to make enough money so that the loan payments aren't as significant. But is it really that advantageous to wait? Does it make sense to increase your loan earlier, keep what you have until you have 1 million in the bank, or pay it off quick?

You have the whole first month before you ever get any interst. I'd wait at least that long. The interst is really pocket change. I'd probably wind up never paying it off till I robbed my first bank at most he interst will set you back 200 or 300 by that time, but if you had paid it off you'd have been set back 3000. After robbing y our first bank you basically have infinite money so I think it makes more sense to never pay it off, or even barrow the full 4000 and never pay that off till you have all the money in the world.

I usually forget the starting loan quickly, and pay it when i get the first interest, as i suddenly remember it. Fortunately, i always have enough money for this. And about increasing it ? I hate taking loans. I'm careful about the difficulty of each mission, and i don't accept one if i don't have a good enough hardware and software. This, and doing as many missions as i can in a short time, allow me to have an excellent Gateway very quickly, and a well furnished account (sometime helped with a small bank hack).

Indeed. I didn't know I had one until I was nearly finished with the Arunmor storyline, which was my second agent... I did the ARC storyline with the first one.

You hit it big in the stock market? I can't figure that one out... I just devalue all the competition, putting the world in another depression or something.
The only way I can figure to boost any company's share price would be to dump competitors' data to your holdings' file servers, mainly via the 'copy database' missions. Does that work?

Doing missions against a company decreases their stock, doing missions for a company raises the stock. Using this to your advantage results in manipulating the stock. Best to do this for your benifit!

Buy low, sell high. Destroy the servers of the company you're interested in, and then buy after their stock drops.
To rise the stock, do missions for those companys, or damage their rivals.
I've read numerous posts on playing the stock market and, out of curiosity, I created an account and went in for the first time. I destroyed a bunch of servers and went back to the stock market to buy those stocks once they've dropped, but they never seem to. How long must I wait for the stock to drop? Or do I need to destroy EVERY system the company has?
As I can't afford to play on the REAL stock market, I would really like to pretend that I am at least a master of this one... Help???

The stock market, beeing incredibly realistic and all, changes every 30 days! yea... ok So anyway, destroying servers and stuff dosent seem to much at all in the way of modifying stock prices, and additionally, I'm pretty sure you have to do it as part of a mission for it to have any effect.
Just keep trashing them, and wait for next month. Then the stock price should drop. Here's one tip for you: Invest in Introversion stock. In a few years(game time), the stock price will skyrocket to around 350,000 credits per share! The catch is that you must have enough money to keep you alive for the Uplink Monthly Fee. One strange thing: I once got a mission from Introversion. I say, "Thanks, Chris!".
