This is probably the only video game I've played that has both bored me to tears with its repetitiveness and caused me to scour the internet for hours so I can figure out how to get past that one mission. And even though I don't play much now, I still get caught trying to do things that I know how to do. . . which is weird for a videogame that you've "mastered."
I'm curious as to what other people's experiences are like in learning to play this game.

At first I loved it even though I had great difficulties doing the test mission. Then I got caught many times. After 3 days I probably learned to copy files. After 4 days I had done just about everything you can do without registering. Later I had some fun and sent most of Uplink into jail (including myself). Far too easy.

I find Uplink far too easy. I mastered hacking banks and transferring funds the very same hour I purchased it. Hacking LANs are the only "challenge" in the World of Uplink, and even those are rather easy..

I agree with Vempele. I thought it was the coolest, i just had a hard time figuring out some stuff. I have a friend who got it even after i had had it for a couple weeks and by that time he was up to elliptical curve stuff and i was trying to earn cash for a HUD connection analysis. He showed me a few things and i eventually got this brilliant idea to check online to see if there's any guides or helps. Doh! So i think it really varries for everybody. I find it challenging. Sometimes i need to check online again to remind myself things, but overall i really find it an invigorating experience.

Well, If you'd asked me that question when I first started, I would've told you it was way hard...But now that I've got it down, I have to say it seems easy. I've gotten to the point where I can do the hardest missions without much effort or getting caught; LANs are still pretty fun, but everything else has become second nature.

Once you get going, and you get teh tools to make it easier, then it's a snap.
Too easy. I have the unregistered version, and i recently stole about 12 million credits, which has funded my upgrades so that I have all the software at highest levels, and my compy is as l33t as possible. Now i just need to buy the game so i can find something hard to hack...
