help with refresh rate

This is kind of long so if you don't feel like helping me you don't have to read it:

During one of my insomniatic nights, I was fiddling with my pathetically outdated iBook and I noticed that uplink was lonely and I decided to get back into it. When I opened it up, I noticed the options menu and realized that I had not yet explored it to its fullest potential. I am unfortunately not the brightest person in the world and set the refresh rate too high. After starting the game again, the screen went to black with the mouse still visible, but after a few seconds I heard the friendly voice alerting me to the fact that Uplink had just quit. Perterbed and panicked, I force restarted, only to find that as soon as the extensions started to load, the screen went back to black. I spend most of my free time on my laptop, and I would greatly appriciate any advise on the matter.

Uh. Well, if you can manage to see anything, you can simply delete the options file, and that should take care of Uplink, and let you set things as they should be.

As for the rest of your computer, can you boot up with a CD? Also, if your computer's screen seems to be fine before the extensions are loaded, can you try starting up without those?

I've never heard of Uplink causing any problems with people's screens outside of the game before, so there could be some larger problem. Then again, I never touched the refresh rates.
