How on earth do you get past the big box with all the little numbers flashing accross at you? Is it a firewall?

You use the decipher, not to be confused with the decrypter, the decipher has 3 versions, the decrypter has 7
To use it, bring it up and click on the numbers. When it's done it will let you go past it.

It should be noted that the decypher is a power consuming program, and you'll often find that you need to upgrade your processors/modem to crack Cypher walls.

Also, be careful when you get ready to crack the cypher wall. It can take a while, so you should have a fast computer and a good version of Decypher before you try to crack a cypher on a major system. (When I first had the game i got nabbed on the GCD, because I couldn't get through the cypher wall, and then didn't disconnect in time"
Getting a really high-end system (with add-ons) maxed out can blast through them in seconds though.

Yeah. The really good ones can crack them in seconds. But the slower ones take a really long time. For example: Lets say you have a icpu, and a decypher level one. It will take you a while to get through a cypher wall. If you have the Omega supercomputer, and a decypher level three on the other hand...
