help a noob hit a hobo

i need help hacking the LAN. Darwins Lan wont let me connect ot anything for some reason. ive tried using spoof and probe (lan) am i supposed to use ip probe? well i cant connect hence i cannot do anything.

------------------

if it is connecting to the lan that you are having a problem with you need to make your second to last bounce thru one of that company's computers, if it is seeing the lan you need the HUD_LANView thing.

EDIT: testing sig

a. good.
b. The only IP you need is the LAN's IP. Once you're in the place, you don't deal with IP anymore. Unless you need to get the IP of a modem, which is just a "back door" to the LAN.
c. If no path have been made, those buttons will stay hidden.
d. because you don't have any possible links. Run the Lan_Probe first. If it doesn't show any link, you've run into a bug. Disconnect your user (i.e. go back to Uplink's main screen, where you choose your agent), and log back in.
e. So you shouldn't have any problem.
f. I guess that's because of your modem (the game one, of course) which doesn't handle the voice nicely. I think you should just ignore this, and run the voice analyser on it.

Actually, I decided to destroy a system just for the heck of it, and when I got the voice, it sounded way to deep, and I was sure that he was using a voice distorter. Then when I tried to use the playback, it didn't work. I didn't get access. I have no idea how to fix this.

There's nothing like a voice distorder in Uplink. I've been hacking and destroying ARC Mainframe and LAN dozens of times, and the admin has never added any security to his phone system.

You're sure you got the sample from the right guy ? There's two links in the public server, the valid one is the administrator, not the other.

I think that if you do not give enough CPU power to voice anylser, it won't work.
That's happened to me with other stuff. 🙂

------------------

With all devices, you must have a minimum amount of CPU power allocated to it. To find the correct voice, go to that company's public access server, and add the admininstrator to your list of addresses. Disconnect, and contact him. Before he answers, run Voice Analyzer. It will pick up his voice and analyze it, allowing it to form words with his voice pattern. Then, connect to the desired server, bouncing in between. Run voice analyzer on the voice security system, and press play. Do not close the voice analyzer between picking up the voice and using it, or you will lose it. When the voice is done playing, and the message on the screen is done typing, access will be granted. If it is not, you have the wrong voice, go back and check again (some companies have similiar names, make sure you have the right one).

Once into a LAN, run LAN_Scan immediately. This will show all existing systems on the LAN. Then, run a LAN_Probe on the router that you begin at, and it will show all possible connections to other systems on the LAN. From there, continue probing every system you can find. Either it will show you its connections (if you have an unblocked route to it) or it will show you which type of system it is. Once you have your first set of connections, you can connect to these different systems by clicking on them. You'll noticed a trail of dots coming from your last connection. If you don't, then you've skipped a system on the route. Go back to the router and try again. Some systems have different uses, such as Controllers, Modems, The Server, and others, but those can be found on websites, so I won't post a description here. The "Back" and "Reset" buttons you have read about are for when you are connected to different systems with the dotted line. Press "back" to go to the previous system, press "reset" to return to the router.

Hope this clarifies some things.
