Disavowed?

I was working for ARC, and had gotten to the last mission. I decided not to destroy the internet, and to abandon the mission and have fun with revelation. I did this, and then suddenly, the screen went black and Uplink said they had disavowed me for working with ARC, and that Revelation did not suceed??
What is this about?

Well, you've been working for ARC, so you haven't obeyed Arunmore order about not working for them, you've helped ARC building a virus to destroy the Internet. Once it's finished, Uplink realize all that. What do you think they do ?
They protect their business. They save the internet.
They stop you.

A more technical answer would be:
As soon as the last ARC mission start, the "disavowing counter" start, and whatever you do, you finish kicked out of the game.
