Hey -
I have been recently trying extraordinarily hard to hack into the ISSD but I can never get the last letter of the password. I always have to cut out before I'm finished. I almost have enough money for a CPU upgrade, and this is the only mission available :mad:. Help!

The best way to do a mission like such is to get the monitor and Proxy bypasses. If you can find another mission, try to demand all the money upfront. Repeat if you fail or haven't got enough, then do them all at once.

There are basically two things you can do: 1. Go to InterNIC and get some random computers to bounce through 2. Buy the monitor bypass & the HUD upgrade necessary to run it

Get admin access (or any account) to a bunch of other systems first, and bounce through those. That will slow up traces a bit.

It took me a long time to notice that if you click the fast forward arrow at the top of the screen and just let it run awhile, new missions will appear that you may be able to earn enough $$ to buy to bypasses you need.
If you log in as 'admin' the trace will begin almost instantly. But if you log in using the 'readwrite' account, you can still change the files you need to, but the trace starts later (if at all) as the security on this account is not as tight.
Simply type in 'readwrite' into the username box before running the password breaker and you're in!

That's only if you use a monitor bypass. Without the bypasser, it will notice if you start bombarding the server with lots of password attempts. It should start tracing you when you log in as admin, regardless of whether you've bypassed the monitor or not. With readwrite and bypass, you should be all set.

A more economical way to tackle this one is simply grab the readwrite password then immediately log out upon discovering it. If time is still an issue, bounce through your banks, give the cracker an obscene share of processing time, and if more time is still needed (you shouldn't), grab some easy admin passwords like that.
Logging on as readwrite without cracking the password will not activate any traces. Later, with extra cash and such for the monitor bypasser, you can browse the ISSD and fiddle with whatever you please for as long as you want.

What I did when I was doing the ISSD missions, was to log on to InterNIC and add REALLY many random links. Then I do a really wild bounce between lots of servers and it gives me at least 100 seconds on the active trace so I have time to: change the information that needs to be changed AND delete all the logs.
