OS compatability

i know you all push about search and stuff but it is late and i need some sleep. i was wondering if there are any plans to make Uplink compatable for lower OS's like os 8. or if it is a purly technomological doohicy that makes it non compatable... cuz i would love to be able to play it...

Because it wont even run well on most g3's

If your running 8.6 on your 6100 or hell 9600, believe me its not the system software limitation thats preventing you from playing uplink.

Its unfortunately a really shoody work of poor, buggy, slow, programming, but an incredibly fun and addicting game.

(if I were in charge, i'd have the game completly rewriten from the ground up...properly)

It runs playable but yet unsmooth on a G4 dual 500. thats sickening.

Woah!!!
I was on a iMac G3/400 on OS 9.1 (lukily im on 10.2.4 now Woohooo) and it was an update every half second. it sucked.

I just have to ask is it smooth like on any other program

As I said, it runs flawlessly. Smooth as silk. Strangely enough, though, it runs like **** under X.2.6.

(edit)Uplink is far from graphics-intensive, but my 32MB video card seems to help a lot. I believe your iMac has a built-in 8MB video card, so that may be one reason it's slow. Unfortunately, about the only thing you can upgrade in an iMac is RAM, so you're out of luck there.(/edit)

Ultimately, I think it's a combination of OS and graphics card. OS X seems to handle it better with some cards, and worse with others. Same goes for OS 9. If it isn't running well on OS 9 though, it will probably run better on OS X.
