Bouncing, Bouncing, Bouncing...

I've used the demo for about 2 days now, and I am getting annoyed at the faliure of a certain tactic I came to use a lot.
Basically, I would add all the links to my bookmarked list, and then put them all on the map. This way, I could leisurely hack into even the heavily protected government systems.
However, after a certain amount of time, my account would freeze up, and I would 'lose the game'. I'm assuming this is because one of the systems I bounced off of was monitoring me, like that one cybornetics corporation (sorry, cant remember the exact name).
The really annoying thing is that this only happened to me after I had a beautiful system up.
Is it a problem relating to bouncing too much, or is it a registration bug?
Any help would be much appreciated!
(I'm starting to make copies of my user file every time I play...)

Maybe bouncing through all systems is asking so much memory and/or processor (the real one) speed that the computer can just no longer support it.
You know, bouncing through the public access servers only is sufficient for any work, you know. 🙂

But can you be detected for bouncing off certain systems?

Certain systems will start tracing you, but not the public servers.
Bounce through InterNIC, then all public servers, and then connect to the target.
You won't have any problems.

Thanx. That makes sense.
Also, does it matter how far apart the systems are for it to take more time tracing? Or is it based on how long the lines are?

When the screen freezes up does it turn black and text appears on the screen saying that you've been caught by some corp. and Uplink had to destroy your comp and disavow all knowledge of your account and yadda yadda yadda...... Well anyway if that's the case it's probably because you never covered your tracks after hacking. (This also happened to me when I first got started.) You have to make a secure system which u have easy accesss to like the Uplink Test Machine. After every hack you do link to the test machine and delete the logs on it to break the chain from the bounces you made to the target comp. Hope that helps.

The length of the bouce makes no difference, and using all public servers doesn't matter either. Actually, using servers you have hacked and still have an admin password for makes it ore difficult to trace. Lastly, the only server that will trace you is the end one - the one you are actually hacking. I use the GCD (Global Criminal Database) as a bounce regularly, as I hacked it for the sole prupose of finding out the admin password and therefor making it a longer trace. I have never had a problem with the trace ending prematurely.

Were you, by any chance, trying to hack a LAN? They have different rules. (Rule #1: NEVER use LAN_Force unless you plan to get out very fast!)

No, I was not trying to hack a LAN.
This is all very interesting and therefore insanely confusing. I think I shall start another user account. Thank you for the help!
