This happened to me, too.
(edit) but it worked when I started a new agent. I think it messed up because I accidentally bought the V1 tracer first. Try a new file(edit).
I also have noticed a few misspellings. Thanks!

You have to wait about 3 hours after you actually complete the mission to reply. If you connect to the Uplink Internal Services and watch the news, you will see news of the hack pop up no later than 3 hours after you did it. To successfully do it, you go into the console and type the following:
cd usr delete usr cd sys delete sys shutdown
You then disconnect. After disconnecting, wipe the logs at the first hop. Then you connect and wait for the news. When you see the news, reply to the employer. Not a bug.

Nope, Uplink tends to be somewhat slow on low end machines due to it's high amount of Open GL rendering.

Not really a bug, but a typo in the registration application. On the 1st screen it says uplink costs 29.99 but it only costs 25$.
I probably wouldn't have registered for 30$...

Well, there are many more IRC bugs which i have mentioned in #uplink, but will post here again.
Thats all i can think of right now.

Music vs Audio feedback
I'd really like to turn off the music and keep on the audio feedback.

This is a known issue, and according to Chris Jacobson, the programmer who converted Uplink from the PC:
"This is a limitation of the sound and music engine."
With how it is programmed now, it would require a lot of work to make it function as you are describing, and probably won't happen anytime soon.

They all work fine for me. Are you sure you have the tool selected when you go to use it?
I have the same multi monitor problem, but I have some information that might help:
When it appears on my secondary monitor, I can still click in the black on my primary monitor to click on things like the intro text field, the options, etc.
Hope this helps and a bug fix comes out soon.

As someone with a GeForce card, I'm experiencing this too.
A temporary fix: type in something that isn't on the list ("asdf" works) and hit the "filter" button. That should speed things up a lot.
Personally, I think this has to do with the way Uplink draws text, because the same thing happens on the world map when you have a lot of links. I still think the best solution would be to allow people to turn that text off, but that will most likely not happen.

What format is the Uplink music in? Couldn't (atleast registered players) have a music.dat that contains only quiet music files?
Just an idea...

I log into the Uplink Test Server, go to the Console, write: dir cd log delete The server deletes all logs. Immediately afterwards, Uplink quits unexpectedly.
I was also unable to pay my fine in a recent game. They claimed I hadn't paid it even though I had, with my money deducted. Lost that game. Maybe I was just too stupid to use the bank interface correctly, but I followed the instructions.
Originally posted by Jericon: Okay, this display problem has been brought to the attention of the developer and they are looking into it. We don't need it to be posted anymore unless anyone has some insight as to what is causing it.
One little bit of insight, from a Mac developer: in my two-screen configuration, I have things set up so that my startup monitor is actually the #2 monitor; the auxiliary (right-hand) monitor is the #1 monitor device.
Uplink displays its information on the #1 monitor, ignoring the Monitors/Displays settings. It looks very much like they're just grabbing the first video device present, but still using the system routines to tell where the mouse is, which would offset the actual and visual coordinates by a large amount. ------------------

My version of uplink does not say anything about about registering, exept as an agent. Name and password.

A few things -
If the connections map is zoomed in, the dotted "have an account here" lines aren't centred on the squares.
If I receive an email while on the connections map, the place names slowly reshuffle.
It might be intentional the way it is, but I don't like having to type in the InterNIC password.
Maybe I'm missing something, but I'd like a map option for showing all computers I have accounts on.
In the world map the click points do not match the blocks on the screen...
Not noticable much at standard view, but zoomed in it is really noticable. For those locations that have a seperate outline, the outline surrounds the click point. For the rest the only way to find the exact area is to move the mouse around until the about box for the location pops up.
Had these problems in the demo and have them now in the shareware version:
OS X (10.2.6)
When I click on the "map" screen, the game freezes irrevocably, and, in fact, forces me to hard reboot.
OS 9 (Whatever the highest version is)
Game starts out fine, but the application begins running slower and slower until it's so sluggish it's unplayable.
G4 400 MHz, 256 MB RAM, ATI Rage 128 Graphics card.
