im fed up now, its the 4th time its reverted to one of my previous files and ive lost another good few hours gameplay. they keep merging. How can i return it?

Wow, I didn't realize that your files had merged when you asked for a copy of anyone's user file, on your topic "uplink users". That really sucks. You might try taking out all but the user file you are currently running from the User folder. Also, try altering the names of your duplicates a bit and put them in a separate folder. I remember the same thing happening to me a while back, and I think that at least one of my users reverted back to it's original state. Good luck.
You duplicated your users? Whenever I do that Uplink screws them up, never saving anything and reverting back to the other duplicate. Try not duplicating them.
I haven't had any problems with duplicates, the blips occurred when I had more than one player in the User folder.
If you duplicate them Put them in a diffrent folder.. I keep my backup in the uplink folder, while the current (used) player stays in the "Users" Directory.
Duplicates have never given me any trouble. I have never had more than one game going at a time though. Why are you doing that?

I rarely do anymore, but when I first started I was playing around with different strategies. I'm not sure why guitar does it although, haven't you noticed that sometimes you might have earned enough to buy bypassers and LANS before April 14 and other times can barely afford a HUD connector? Seems like it's the luck of the draw, as to which kind of and how many missions show up on the board. So, maybe guitar was starting over but, didn't want to throw a user away.
I keep my old "best games" in a seperate folder. That seemed to make the most sense anyway.
"Best games" meaning one's where you've finished the storyline?
Anyway, I don't know why I thought I could keep more than one player in my user folder (when I first started playing). You couldn't do so with Nova. Let us know if it works guitar.
