Ok--just started Uplink. I'm on the VERY FIRST MISSION and I'm supposed to log into a server. I type my ID and pass in, but it says invalid username and/or password. What do I have to do?

You mean the Uplink test machine? The admin password is 'rosebud'. If that doesn't work, I don't know what will. Hope it helps.

Ok, that worked. THanks. Now, I copied the file ok and it says "Select memory bank" so I open my memory bank window but I try to save it to a slot but nothing happens....

yeah thats just a good way to silence the whining masses... anyway I have a question. when playoing the unregistered version of uplink, does it automatically terminate your account after a while? you know the whole bit about destroying your compuiter etc?

Start a new Character, then do the tutorial. It is an absolute must.
You see, the whole point of this game is hacking (the only place you will use your own name and pass is at the store and in the bank). Everywhere else you will have to forge identities to do what you must do. The tutorial will show you how to forge names and passes.

I don't believe so on the Mac version (at least, it didn't do it to me). It does on the PC demo, I know that.
well for me now oh about 3 times, after doing any random job in an account i've had for about a day or to, i suddenly get terminated i always cover my tracks theres now way they could have found mee... another thin, how do you use and manipulate the stock market?
oh yeah I really should register already...thats oh the 5th time now ive been terminated for just logging on!

To use the Stock Market:
Go connect to interNIC. Click on browse/search. You can either try to look throught the list, or use the search feature at the bottom and search for stock (much easier to use search feature).
It will show you a new IP. On the left side of the IP there will be a plus sign (or something different if you changed you theme). Click on the plus and the IP will be added to your list. Connect to this IP, create an account, and continue to buy/sell stock.
Warning: Stock prices change only once per month (unlike the real world).

How long are your bounces? Are you deleting logs?

yes thats what i mean by covering my tracks, deleting ALL the logs of where ever i've hacked if I have time, if theres not enough, i delete them at InterNic, which i aways bounce htrough (along with everything else) Edit: oh yeah, if you register by phone, do you get your code right away? ------------------ Don't step on the ducks, they don't like it -me It is as bad as you think, they are out to get you. -my brother

Well, when you delete them at the server, you leave a log after you dissconect. It is better to always erase them at InterNic
