Row of Static

At the bottom of my 600 x 60 level, there is a row of static. It's not present in any others, just this one. Upon falling into it accidentally, Ferazel dropped into MacsBug.

It might have something to do with the verticle limit in a level, but from the demensions you gave, I don't think it would be that.

Bush thinks we were better off 8 years ago. My reaction was laughter. Vote GORE to keep moving forward!

Certainly not. 60 pixels vertically is nothing compared to Into the Frying Pan, which is several hundred.

An update: I don't believe this strange static behavior is my fault. To test, I created a new level with a different background...same effect. Then I copied level info from Unemployed in Greenland and pasted it into the problem level...same effect.

My sick theory is that it has something to do with the PxMid, which I believe to be that infinitely-repeating PICT on the bottom of the level that scrolls uniquely from the BG.

Any thoughts?

Keep Bush out of the White House...just say no to Dubya Election Day!

I think you are right.

I have the same problem. At the bottom of the level, everything is made up of multi-colored static. And if you are right, that you need to use the PxMid tiles, I'm going to be upset. Because I don't want the tiles covering up the bottom of my level.

However, aren't there levels out there that don't use this and still work properly?

In the first step for your level you probably selected Copy Level Info from a pre-existing level and pasted it into your level. The level you copied it from used PxMid tiles. So your level thinks you should to, hence the static. In one of my levels I copied from Hangnabit, a level that doesn't use PxMid Tiles. But in my second level, I copied from Flash Freeze a level that uses PxMid tiles.

So I went back and pasted PxMid tiles in and sure enough, the static disapeared and was replaced by the tiles.

Now the question is: What fields of the level info tell the level to use PxMid tiles? It's more than just the PxMid Tile field.

Sucsess!

By changing certain fields in the Level Info dialog box, I was able to get rid of the static. Here are the fields you have to change to 0.

PxMid
Layering
Info > Second Row > First 3 Fields.

Hope This Helps.

You can also do what I did:
select "Select parralax tile scroll speed" from the tile menu.
Enter 0 in all fields.
If you do this your background will always stand still.
