Oks, I'm a little newbish on this subject. So how do you get your Neuromancer rating to increase (I know ho to get it to decrease)? I think I've tried almost everything.

Destroying machines is a good way to increase it, but keep in mind it's a lot harder to ruin your reputation than to gain it back.

The neuromancer rating is lowered by doing bacnk trancfer traces, hacker traces, social security changes... basically anything that would hurt a hacker.

Destroying machines? How do you do that? And can I just randomly go around, and destroy macines?
P.S. How do you quote
Above everybody's post is a little button that says "reply". Clicking it will take you to the normal post-reply page, except that they will have been quoted in it.
to quote: put in
(QUOTE )<without space) "your quote here" (without space>( /QUOTE)
you can see an entire list of the UBB code but clicking "UBB Code is ON" at the side when you are writing a msg, or by going (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/webboard/ubbcode.html")here(/url).
To destroy a machine: When you have admin rights to a computer (and a fairly good amount of time) you enter the console, by going to "Admin" then "Console" and type in the following
cd usr delete cd sys delete cd log(optional) delete(optional) (wait for that to finish...) shutdown
And if it is a mission you are doing to crash a computer go to the news server and fast forward a couple of days 'till it shows up, then reply...Hope i helped.

I think so, but it seems to go up fastest if you take missions to destroy computers. I think they start at uplink difficulty 6 or 7. Maybe central mainframes work better than internal services? I noticed my neuromancer rating shoot quickly from untrustworthy to single-minded when I did about 10 of these missions.

Yeah, unfortunately all the high level missions seem to be the kind that will lower your rating. I suppose that by the time you get to that level you ought to be doing scenario missions instead of the ones off the list.

I've tried randomly killing servers, doesnt seem to work for me. I never worry about my neuromancer rating though. I mean, hacking itself is illegal, so why worry about hacking morals?

I look at it as part of the challenge <g>.
I like to be a "good guy" the first time I play again. Later on I'll play the game and go for max in the other direction (sending people to prison, etc). Though I figure that direction will be easier to get to. (I'll use that id to run the ARC missions too)
You call being a good guy destroying years of research, making companies spend millions of dollars and such? Geeze.
That's only the name of a rank, Slav. You're a good guy for the hackers.

Yeah, I know, it's a very specialized usage of the term "good" <grin>. A real nicey nicey person wouldn't be doing any of these missions.
But that's the way the game is written.
