I have some qestions about logs...

1: what exactly is a log?
2: where can I find them?
3: how do logs get left behind?

A log is a record of anything you do on a system
When in most systems, click admin, then logs
Logs are left behind when you log on to a system, or perform certain other actions
*If you don't want to be caught when hacking a system, buy the log deleter software upgrade, and delete the logs. Version 4 is the most sure way not to get caught.

It's very important that you delete your logs after every hack, because even though you don't see anything on the Trace Tracker, which is called active tracing, they are still tracking you with passive traces. You only need to delete the logs at one of the servers you bounced from. InterNIC is a good one, and should always be your first jump, though some prefer the Uplink Test Server. They're easy to get into, and InterNIC has no traces.

You only need to delete the "Connection routed to..." and "Admin access granted" logs. In fact, you SHOULD ONLY delete those.

I have a question...

I do a mission, I dissconect, I reply to the mission, then head over to InterNic, and delete every log there, and have never been caught, even after stealing millions of credits from banks. Why does everyone say you need to leave a connect log? For me, the dissconected log is already there to delete, there are always ones matching with each other. Am I doing something different than everyone else or what?

Yeah, but some people like to make the experience more realistic for themselves. Personally, I never delete the connection log, unless I happen to delete all the logs from the console in the machine-destruction missions.
