I have been playing Uplink for about a week now, and I haven't registered yet (though I plan on doing so soon). In my game now, it's around April 20th, and no matter how many times I copy my save and try again, I am suddenly busted for no reason. I get the usual you were hacking some corporation message, even though my record is clear and I haven't done anything. Is this normal, maybe kind of similar to the Captain Hector thing?

No. You probably forgot to delete your logs somewhere. There shouldn't be a cutoff like that just because you haven't registered.
You can only get to a certain Uplink rating (I forget which...), and you can't use skins or multi-monitor, but there's no "Cap'n Hector" type thing in the game.

You probably copied your save after they began a passive trace that you forgot about.
To see who caught you, log into your profile after you've been caught. It should tell you the reason you were disavowed.

i think this might be included too.....because if i set my time as the fastest possible...it ALWAYS after a little while gives me that message...even though i have double and triple checked i have no traces left...( i use InterNIC and ALWAYS delete the "routed to" messages) This seems to only happen when i speed up the time in the job search thing.......but it may happen other places, because that is the only place i have found a need to speed up time. the excact reason i am "disavowed is:~~~~> "For hacking into the Uplink Internal Services System." < this IS where i am when it happens, but i have never bothered to try to hack Uplink because i have not the Gateway, nor the software to do it.

The introversion demo DOES have a cutoff point. Did you download the Ambrosia demo or the Introversion one?

The introversion demo stops you from playing at a certain point. The ambrosia one just stops you from going any further in rankings, but allows you to keep on playing
The ASW one also stops the storyline at a certain place, and does not allow you to get the best gateways or add new gateways/Themes/LAN's etc.

I changed my mind..i started a new one and i have gotten farther in this one than the other..so i guess i must have done something wrong in the other to mess up my game....i cannot figure out what though.

I severly doubt he is. What makes you think that a real hacker would bother to play this kind of unrealistic game, when it is most likely more interesting in real life.

well as a long story short i wuz curious how to really hack and "Dark dragon" was the person who made the web page i cant hack and i dont want to since you must "think like the programmer and learn his flaws" or wutever and that takes too long in fact it can take weeks to hack a password but wut ever i might as well here the answer from him himself there i go again rambling on k ill reply to ppl if they talk to me but sure MACS RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
