Ok ok so I dont care one ioda about cheating but my ignorance is killing me. What IS redshirt, and how once Ive decrypted a file does a Hex editor work to altar it? For instance, lets say I wanted to decrease my starting loan, can I change it there? Can I increase my credits? what can and cant I do with Hex editing a redshirted file? AND HOW DO YOU DO IT??? I am so lost in my ignorance that I now burden you fine people with my troubles. Anyone who can answer this gets a cookie.

A hex editor can alter files on a byte-by-byte level. If you know where in a file some data is located, you can change it. This is particularly useful with files containing binary data, like uplink user files, which are hard to change using a text editor.

Most likely, if you can locate your loan figure and make sure it's your loan. You probably want to search for your user's bank account number.

If you're talking about a user file, you can probably do quite a lot, like change your uplink rating, increase your money, change which gateway/hardware/software you have, etc.

That depends on how your hex editor works. If you're using "HexEditor.app" like me, you have to click the "Allow editing" checkbox first, then you can change the values.

somebody should totally make something which tells users axcactly what to search for and what to change to do different things...(in a hex editor with ur .usr file once it is redshirted)...i know I would find this usefull...
