I'm stuck at the moment. I'm on one of those missions where you are destroying files - all of them and their backups - from a mainframe. The mainframe will not accept public connections, so I hacked that company's internal services machine, then went to the links page thinking I could connect through the trusted internal services machine to the mainframe. When I do this, it just connects me directly, so I get the same refusal.
What am I missing here? How do you connect 'through' another node?
TIA

In the map screen (upper right corner), first click on either 'Uplink test server' or 'InterNIC.' Then, bounce through a number of other computers. FInally, your last bounce should be a server owned by the company, such as the public access server. You can then connect to the mainframe and hack your way in. Be sure to delete logs on your first bounce... the admin log and the bounce log...

Oh, so basically, it's a whole hellofalot easier than I was making it. Thanks for the quick reply!
OK this is driving me crazy.
What I understood was that you only needed to route through a trusted computer right before you landed at your final destination - the mainframe. It seems as if this is correct, because I get a login screen instead of a message about public connections being disallowed. At this point, however, the password cracker doesn't work. It just quits when I tell it to go. Is this a bug?
thanks again
Since the password cracker never crashed on me, it could be a bug... anybody else have any further input?
Hey
I just tried a similar mission with no troubles. Must be an odd bug - I do have 2 missions for that same company at the moment, and I have been monkeying around with their systems.
In any case, thanks for your help, I'm onto the next thing...
