Ok, I've searched the boards but didn't find any refrence to this topic, so I thought I would post.My question is: Can you download othere people's saved game files like you could in Escape Volocity Nova? It would be nice to be able to download a completed game file and get used to all the featuers before I started my own game to just get caught.
Thanks in advace for even bothering to read this. -NO0B

in short, yes, its possible. In fact, if it werent, many people wouldnt get as far because that would mean we couldnt back up our people, meaning if they were to get caught, wed have to start from scratch.
I would suggest starting from the bottom, though, and working your way up. If you skip over lessons you need to learn through your early missions, your later missions will be that much tougher since you didnt have that knowledge or caution in mind.

And besides, it takes a lot of the fun out of it.

Ah, ok. Thanks.

But you aren't supposed to be able to save... You're SUPPOSED to start over when you get caught. Backing up, in a word, is cheating.

Are you telling me that in every game (not just Uplink) you have ever played, you returned to the start when you screwed up? Every single one? Hmmm......

Actually, no, I'm not. I don't know what makes you think I am. I'm telling you that in just Uplink, you return to the start when you screw up.
There was a save feature at one point in development, and it was taken out. What does that tell you?

It's a single player game. Cheating or not, it doesn't make one difference how they play, as they can play the game however they want. It might be different if it was a multiplayer game, but it isn't. Oh sure, you're not supposed to do something, but if they want to play it some other way, why can't they? Because the developer didn't want them to? If someone wants to cheat, or is doing something that might be cheating in your mind, don't come over and tell them the developer doesn't want them to do that. Cause you know what? You shouldn't care how they play, they can play it anyway they want to. And besides, aren't you the one who made the program that lets you edit some of the game files? Like the user file? I thought the developer didn't want you to edit them? Who are you to be talking about not cheating?
