ARC missions

Something is weird with them, very weird.
WARNING: Some mission description ahead

The first revelation mission, the one where you implant the virus onto their competitor's main system, is easily accomplished and afterwards, they tell you to lie low for the time being. Did so, waited, and got some more ARC missions.

First one was to go into the Darwin system and get files, which I did, but when I replied to get the money for accomplishing the mission, I got their first email congratulating me on joining up with them and another fecking copy of Revelation 1.0 . I tried this 3 times, all with the same result. Before I could get angry though, another mission to frame someone came up and took my attention. I set it all up, finish it, and get the news report that Andrew Smith has been arrested for Bank Fraud, exactly like my orders. I reply to the email, to tell them I completed the mission, and I get a letter and a mission in responce, yes, its the SAME FECKING REVELATION 1.0 MISSION!!! I tried a few more times, got it a few more times, abandoned all the first mission things, and got my rank knocked back to beginner. Money isnt an issue anymore, its just I wanted to get the affirmation that I completed the mission.

Also, with the bank accounts, stealing money is WAYYYY to easy. It kills some of the game when you know you can just as easily hack into the bank, steal an arseload of cash, and get the highest upgrades for everything.

Now, the mission where I copied all the files, must I have done that from the LAN itself? After trying several times to get into the damn thing, and having the system administrator on my ass a few times, I instead went to their internal services machine and hacked the files from there. Should I have stuck to the LAN and done it? If so, thats the explaination for that. For the other thing, though, ive got no ideas on how to finish the mission. The news report is out, meaning the mission is complete, but I wont get the mission successful affirmation or anything else till its all done.

Now, I have an unregistered copy (right now), might this be playing into it somewhat? What is the cutoff point in the missions for unregistered users? Can I see the missions but not complete them? Throw me a bone here someone.

How does one get the missions? I got the expired email from the dead agent with the codes.

I've done everything I could possibly do to gain attention... including destroying their mainframe, but nothing happens. I've waited for several months... What's next?

easily. Just take missions like normal. Sometimes it will be an identity mission, sometimes itll be a delete file mission, sometimes itll be a copy file mission. When the company that gives you the mission is ARC, once you complete the mission they will send you revelation and another mission. The annoying thing about it is, even though you completed the mission successfully, the mission never goes away and never gives you money. You can reply to it half a million times and itll do jack. You have to abandon it, lowering your status. I think this itself is a bug, as well as the other times I kept getting sent that first mission of theirs.

Just try to conenct to thier server using the username and password given to you. A few hours later you will get an e-mail.

The server says it needs to be routed through a friendly server. In addition, the server requires voice-print identification, elliptic-curve deciphering, and a password. Is this even the right server?

Are you using a save file that has come from the PC? If so, this is your issue. As for not being able to complete the mission, you should not be able to complete it while being unregistered.

Unless things have changed alot from PC to Mac, which it is claimed they haven't, you've all missed something. If they have changed, feel free to tell me so if any mac users arrive in our IRC channel we can give them the right advise.

To do the story, you have to connect to the ARC central mainframe within a week or so of recieving the dead agent email (ie I got my email from ARC on April 17th). The Story line of the game is very time critical, and it will continue happening through mid april to mid may regardless of if you're a part of it or not.

Now, by connecting to ARC central mainframe, I mean just connect. Reports come back that people have started the story by merely connecting (properly through a trusted server) and then leaving. The standard thing to do, however, is try entering the dead agent's username/password (which should fail), and not breaking your log chain. (Since it's not illegal)

If you've gone way past that time, the only thing that you can really do to get either side of the story missions is start again.

There is a FAQ/guide to uplink on (url="http://"http://www.modlink.net")www.modlink.net(/url) , made by Icepick and is basically recommended by the year and a half old Uplink community that already exists, and it should apply to the Mac version quite happily. This whole time problem is one that crops out quite alot. 🙂
