Slowdown

I can't pass even the tutorial, because the game go toooooo slow. I even think it crashed one time...but no. Just veeery slow. I can't play it...

OS: 9.2
iMac 500 MHz
RAM: 320 Mb
game in 800x600

Intriguing - I've been able to run it on my 350Mhz iMac under 10.2.6, with the same RAM amount, with no problems. Perhaps, how about if you stepped down your resolution to 640x480? That's what I run it at, and it runs amazingly smoothly...

Besides, it should be faster under OS 9.2, since it allocates all available resources to it - how much RAM have you allocated to it?

Cheers

Mikey

This is a common problem with even the fastest machines, check some other threads and you will see people complaining about the same problem. Maybe this will be fixed in future updates, maybe not.

I, for one, sure hope it will. It'd be a shame otherwise.

I might add that this seems to be a common OS9 issue.

Seriously, though, I agree that it would be a shame for a game like Uplink to have such problems, but, and I really mean no offense here, it's been a good while since OSX came into the game. And I know the frustration on the laptop side (nonupgradable graphics cards for one thing), but still, Sooner or later, for gaming purposes, hardware has to be retired.

For a more useful tip, error, try running in OSX. It ran somewhat good on my 266MHz WallStreet with 192 megs (640x480 16-bit). Trying won't hurt.
