Covering your tracks.

Any tips on covering ones tracks?

Deleting logs is paramount, and bouncing through InterNIC or the Uplink Test System is a good idea right?

But which logs do you delete?
is there any kind of firewall or spoof upgrade than you can get to mask your real location?

Thanks for any answers/tips anyone can give.

As far as logs are concerned, all you really need to do is delete all your logs from InterNIC after each hack. Just make sure you always go through InterNIC first, and get to your logs quickly, just in case.

The logs you want to delete are the 'routed to' entries. I also like to wipe the 'admin authorized' entries as well.

The idea is to leave the log in a state where it doesn't look like it's been altered. Thus you don't want to delete the current 'Connect from' log since you'll leave a fresh 'Disconnect' entry when you log out.

Why through InterNic? Do you have Admin access there, or do they let you modify logs without it? I route through the Uplink Test Machine first because A. You have an admin password, B. Nothing happens if you get caught 😄

InterNIC is preferred because, unlike the Uplink Test Server, they don't trace you when you log in as admin. And admin pass never changes there either so once you break it you're set.

Once you get a fast enough processor and enough bounces, you'll prefer Uplink Test Machine, however. I found it easier to go through the console there and simply type cd usr > delete. I still had 246 seconds left. 🙂

You mean cd log :D.

Of course, those logs can then be un-deleted as doing it that way leaves a "Log Deleted" message.
