I don't ask these questions only for myself, but for other uplink beginners, too. .. figured out it would be better to keep it all in one place. None of these questions are in the FAQ.
When you have hacked successfully into a system, disconnected and the trace-o-meter (Trace Tracker) shows that the trace is 60% complete, should you then go back to the first server you bounced through and delete the logs there, and then go on to the next mission? Will that be enough, or will you have to delete the logs on several of the servers you bounced through to be sure?
How do you get admin status on other than bank servers?
Would you recommend to make accounts in as many banks as possible, and then bounce through them all (to slow the trace - banks don't give out personal information as fast if you have an account there)?
Do you need to hack into the admin part of a bank to transfer money from one account to another?
Thanks
oh were to start.....
After completing a mission you should always go to your first bounce (Internic or test machine) and delete the logs there. You don't need to delete the logs on any other server, unless your bored. As for the need to do it, yes you should do it after every mission - regardless of how much trace was on you.
You can get admin accounts on most servers by logging into them and then disconnecting. I think technicaly after 1/3 trace is complete you lose the admin account (not sure on that...if someone can verify that would rock). So basicly...hack a server...disconnect.
It's not a bad idea to get accounts on every bank. Give's you a couple seconds more on traces.
You don't need a bank admin to hack a bank. If you know a bank account all you need is the bypass's. You connect to the bank, use the monitor and proxy bypass. Then you put the account number in and run you passwork cracker. Transfer the money to your account, delete the statement, go to your account and delete the statement. Disconnect and clear your logs. havng hacked tons of banks, I recommend getting an account on each to speed up the hack.
Remember, always clear your logs!

You only need to break the chain in one place. If you illegally transfered funds to yourself, then you'll need to delete both statements there as well.
Hack the admin acount at the server in question. This might take deciphering, the admin's voice, password-breaking, or any combination.
If you have an account on a bank, file server, or anything else, it will delay the passive trace. These accounts have other benefits as well. Government servers and bank servers (with or without accounts) will also increase the passive trace time more than normal servers. Admin accounts are still much more effective in slowing passive traces, but every little bit helps.
No. If you know an account number, that's all you need. Hacking into the admin part of the bank does help in some cases, as it will allow you to get account numbers that you don't already know.

It's 1/2. You can also lose it if they realize it's been compromised in some other way.
Better yet, once you have a Monitor Bypass, you can connect, bypass, break the password and then disconnect without actually logging on. This gets you a root account without even triggering a trace (it's probably best to clear your bounce logs anyways, just to be on the safe side).

What's the best method for obtaining bank account numbers?t
------------------ There are 10 types of people in this world: Those who understand binary and those who don't.
"Trace a Bank Transfer" or "Find a Person's Bank Balance" missions- they usually have a lot of money.

To get the most money, take a trace money job until you find the culprit it was transferred to. His account will probably have over a million credits (more than enough to buy all the goodies).
If you just want a lot of work and account numbers... Log into the bank as admin and then look at the account summaries?? (Sorry don't remember I think it was the first option of admin). You can now copy the account numbers and corresponding passwords. Log out, clear logs. Now log back in as an account user (with the copied info), you should be able to transfer funds with no active trace bothering you. Clear both statement logs and the connection log at your first bounce point..

I tend to take every bank-related misson I can get. I have over 8 million in my bank account now, and that's after a lot of purchases.
The general standing amongst Uplink veterans is that bank hacks ruin the game and should not be done I think the general policy is to hack them for the rating, and only transfer small amounts of money- otherwise the game gets too easy.
Yeah, it does make it easier. The only reason I've been doing them so much is just to see how much cash I can actually get, sort of like a new goal now that I'm done with one of the storylines.
