I decided the first fully functional release deserved a topic of its own. I'm hoping for this to be a beta in name only, but we all know how that works out... Anyway.
I slaved away some more, changed the interface a bit, coded all those options. In addition to that, I made a full 128x128 Aqua icon, which I hope will bring you as much joy as it did when I was finally done with it (I should live so long...) Set up the About box, gave it all kindsa neat stuff. You should find it a rather pleasant tool to work with.
Also a brief user and usefulness guide, with which (here we go again) I hope you'll be satisfied. There is also contact information there, so you can get in touch with me. I encourage you to get in touch with me, tell me what you like, what could be better, how cool I am. Oh, and feature suggestions.

could someone please tell me what this is? I've even downloaded the file and I still can't figure out exactly what its usefulness is. Something about encrypting files... Forgive my stupidity!

Read the other topic on Redshirt. Apparently this will allow you to open some encrypted files that come with Uplink, to find easter eggs I guess. I don't really care much, as I'm more playing this to have fun, and not to see how many secrets I can find. By the way, just to clear things up for other users, will this work on OS 9?

Aah, no. It's a purely Cocoa application. Sorry to all you OS 9 users, but seriously, where have you been?
Wraith: I'm not entirely certain what you're saying. I mean, finding secrets is half the fun! But as far as REDSHIRT goes, it isn't a cheat or anything like that- it is stated in the guide that it was meant to be broken. RedshirtX simply makes the world of hacking the game more accessible to the casual user.
That's what I was getting out of your post, anyway. Feel free to correct me.
Amongst other easter eggs (such as Introversions IP addy) the book one of the Uplink game bible comes with Uplink and book 2 and 3 come with the bonus disk, but I know that on the PC version that supris suprise they are encrypted and you have to use a speacial encryption algorithm to un-encrypt them. The game bible is a basicly all the ideas that never happend, early ideas for the game and such, design sketches conecpt art etc.. Also there are many things you can do the game, such as add many many themes , more gateways, different map designs, skins, etc...
