Well, that was rather cryptic. What have you figured out to do? Could we see a screenshot? Or could you tell us the process? Anytime Px tiles are normally mentioned its accompanied with the words like: stupid, razzafrazen, "I give up" and my personal favorite: "please somebody help me I'll do anything!."

The vpos is the number of pixels down from the top that you want the PX Mid layer to go. This figure is not from the top of the level but from the top of the picture. Each one of the background squares is 64 pixels deep - so if you want the px mid to go halfway down the fourth pattern square you set the vpos at (3 x 64)+32 down (224).
It's important to get your background right before you start making the level. Changing it is - whilst not impossible - exceedingly difficult.
