What documentation?

Well howdy---

I've started playing around with Mascot and I keep seeing references to "the documentation" in various places, like the FAQs and PCheese's noble effort to provide a manual. But WHAT documentation is being referred to? Where can I find out what to put in which fields?

Playing around with manipulating other people's worlds I've learned by trial and error how to do some things, and experienced some "Doh!" moments (like when the realization dawned on me that FG and BG meant "foreground" and "background") but I've also run into problems with Mascot (? bug) not responding when I try to replace tiles, both my own and those that exist already. For instance, sometimes I place a tile, then come back and not only can't delete it, but clicking on it turns it into a blue or pink tile that WILL NOT go away, even when I try to change it to another tile. Doesn't seem to matter if it's a background or foreground tile.

BTW, how do you create a level with that wall of fire chasing you across the screen?

That's the original documentation with a few additions.

Fire Chaser: In "Extra Level Info" (18) needs a 1, and there may be some other things you need to do, try looking at the original levels info and extra info to find out how stuff is done.

Sounds like your tile problem is the result of being on rotate, not draw. Also to delete tiles move your cursor (square outline) over them and hit delete.

Also I recommend getting Andrews MASCOT Addition thingamabob from the addons page. (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/games/ferazel/addons.html")http://www.AmbrosiaS...zel/addons.html(/url)
It'll keep you from needing the Original MASCOT Reference so much.

Also, I recommend printing out the reference guide and writing on it every time you learn something new. Mine is a mess, and my bible.

Good luck, welcome to the boards and for (much needed) shameless Extemporaneous (my world) advertising check out my signature.

I thank you for the advice. My ridiculously slow ISP won't load your site so I'm going to have to wait for a less busy time to try again for the original mascot guide. I already did get the other downloads you mentioned.

I have already played "Extemporaneous," too. A fun world, you can be proud!

I'm still working on my documentation, but since it's unfinished it's not on the addons page. Also, since iTools will no longer be free, I really haven't uploaded any new partial versions. When I get another website I'll take care of that.

In the meantime, you can email me at mulletsailors@yahoo.com and I'll send you the current copy of the documentation back.

Also, you could check (url="http://"http://www.geocities.com/mulletsailors")www.geocities.com/mulletsailors(/url) for updates; I might get around to updating that site soon.

Hiya, Spamguy!

I didn't forget the FAQs-— that was the very first place I went! They've been very helpful, too, thank you.

I appreciate everyone's help very, very much.
