I'm having trouble linking Avara over the Ethernet. Program linking is turned on on both computers, they are both connected, but when I tried to log on to a server my brother started, it wouldn't accept the administrator's username! Any insight?

Are you both hooked up to a Hub? or are you connected directly with an ethernet crossover cable?
I don't think you need program linking on to play across a local network. Just set both computers to use Appletalk (in the avara settings - cruise the menus) one computer as the avara server (start a server) - and on the other the server should appear in the tracker listing.
And -of course- your network options should be using the Ethernet port.
At least that's how I remember it working...
