Recently I was pointed it a link, in ev3 i believe. As I tend to do i click the link without thinking what would come of it. This link contained a topic andrew had written in these forums about banning of a certain people off of the Avara gaming server (or that was what my inference led me to believe). Now normally this would not spark any sort of intrest from me as i have no intrest in Avara, but i read some of the other topics on this board, so i address this to the players of Avara attending this board:
This Website is not a democracy it is a Dictatorship.
Many point this fact out in B&B; and it is so true. Andrew has every right to ban anyone he pleases for doing anything he finds unacceptable, he could ban me right now. I assure you I would not be happy, but i wouldnt flame him, because it would not solve my problem. Complaining using swear words and talking about andrew negativly on his own forums will get you nowhere, if he bans you, thats it, your gone. Speaking out against what he does will get you nowhere unless you are nice enough that he rethinks his desiscion. Currently many users of this forum have no clue that their pointless derogative rants will only anger people further, and it has disturbed me. Taz! is obviously a good moderator, since he hasnt gone nuts by now.
------------------ Newbie bashing = Tactical destruction of possible future threats = NATO So why cant i do it?
I don't think I'd even call it that -- I have a "hands off" policy, letting moderators from the respective boards deal with many issues. It isn't until someone goes out of their way to cause trouble that I get involved.
And yes, of course, being abusive or insulting or threatening to anyone isn't a particularly smart way to get what you want.

You want me to act respectful and saying unless I am, you won't unban me...perhaps you should take your own advice?
And as to Pyro, I'm not complaining about being banned from this board, I would understand. I just don't see why I was banned from AVARA for doing nothing, yet I come here and disrupt this board and I don't get banned. Kinda goofy.

The difference is there is a specified way we (moderators) follow to ban you from the boards, hence the karma adjustments that have been made to your username. However, we also allow a certain amount of free speech here - especially when it concerns a problem.
If I had not been able to get you to resist spamming the board that first night you probably would have been banned for a while. As I was deleting some of the more vulgar comments on this board (and adjusting your karma at the same time) I was hoping you were at least reading and hopefully comprehending what I could and could not do.
Yes, andew could have banned you from the webboards immediately - but then we would not have had the dialog concerning the problem that followed. That was a double-edged sword; we got to hear some opinions on the system used to ban someone from the Avara tracker, but along with that were countless insults and vitriol. Frankly, most of the arguments were specious at best, and it just dug the hole you're in currently.
I'm still hopeful we can work this out to everyone's benefit. Even though I don't play that often, I'd like to think the people who want to play Avara still can. That doesn't mean unbanning everyone - troublemakers will still have to restrain their juvenile tendencies if they ever want to play Avara again (and yes, I know they can get around the tracker.)
Hey! Thanks Pyro for the kind words!

Hmmm... I wouldn't call it that either, unless you feel your parents are the dictators of their own house.
I would reason along those lines: This website is andrew's house. His rules. He can hand you the keys to the shop, or kick you out the door - his choice. If you come into his house, please note the sign at the front door that says "Take OFF your &*(%$ muddy shoes and park your attitude at the door."
I don't think it even needs to be analogized. This is Andrew's. He owns it.

I'm just really surprised to be honest. I may not have come across as it here, but I'm a genuinely nice guy...to hear people saying I'm not is strange. Perhaps on ALine I've been annoying, but I like messin around with them there (And it's pure fun at that)
I know I didn't crash anyone, that's one thing. Yet, I am just shocked as to why someone reported me for harassment. I've made fun of people, but it's the people who come to my servers and act like real morons. I don't really talk to Yo! and never really had a problem with him until now.
Only thing I can think of is when I said "If I saw you I'd shoot you" then paused and said "with a water gun" and he didn't laugh. I dunno though.

Ah, so its a form of Feudalism.
Seriously, though, I wish Ambrosia had a "hands off" policy when it comes to the Avara community.

Ok, I'm curious. Exactly what would that entail?
::Taz! sits back, cracks open his psych book, and prepares for the fun.::
Why are you still posting here? You've admitted that you've stolen Avara for years now. You have zero cred in my book.

Hmm, Yes. I'd say It could be classifed as such. The only way for you malcontents to dethrone andrew would be to get almost every single person on the boards, including people who presently like andrew, and the mods, to go 100% over to your side and refuse to post unless andrew stepped down.
You won't get me, I have 75.923 out of a possible 100 favor-points for andrew, the only deduction being from his unfair use of undesirable custom titles. I do, however, think that he has every right to do this, unfair though it might be.
Even if all the malcontents got together (Spammers, people with terrible Karma, people with undesirable custom titles), which would be hard since most leave the boards (If they are not banned outright), you can't represent more that 20% of the population - making revolution imposable.
Sorry, but andrew is here to stay unless one you nuts gets so mad you harm him in real life. I, for one, am reasonably content with andrew's leadership and would not like to see him replaced by a less qulifed 'hero of the revolution'
Further, I say this even after reading Jude's compelling letter of resignation. - Bryce
