To all Avara level designers or ex-designers, I would like to know about how long it took each of you to learn the script and all its facets. Personally, it has taken me slightly over a week, but I've still got a few things(like pills being one of maybe four things left) to try out. And I know this toppic is better suited for the Avara forum, but it usually take about three days for each post to be replied to once. I figured if someone decides to send it there, I'll have gotten some posts before then, and at least I'll have an idea of the numbers before I'm in my late 40s.

I wonder if this should go on the Avara board...

If you put it there, it'll take weeks for people to respond with only a few posts. That would waste a lot of my time, and make me very unhappy (towards mods).
That's what we have an Avara board for.

Okay. Sorry mouse, but I'm moving it to the Avara board now. This really doesn't belong here.
After a terribly interesting conversation regarding whether or not it should stay on "this board"... hehe. I'm just starting to learn the ins and outs of Avara. I started about a week and a half ago, after some prompting from a friend of mine. I haven't spent a lot of time experimenting, and have only been working with developing levels. I implement features as I come up with uses for them. So I figured out ramps, adjustable blocks, goodies, etc. fairly quickly, but have yet to mess around with doors, holograms and the other slightly more involved things (though I don't think holograms would be that difficult, and I'm considering using ambient holograms to spice up my levels while not necessarily increasing processor load). On a more ambitious scale, I've started work on my first KotH, which will hopefully be finished... well, lets just say hopefully it'll be finished.
(side note: the only board I personally check with any regularity are the Avara board and the EV dev board, so I at least would not have noticed this topic wherever it was before.)

T'was in EV B&B.;
It spent me about 2 or 3 weeks to get it down well enough to make a level. I eventually only made one worth making.

Mouse, when has any post that has deserved an answer gone unanswered here for more than 5-7 days? Eh?
Me thinks you place too high of "value" to your time. Go ahead, be unhappy with me.

This one. And I value my time like its better than gold(being as gold is just shiny dirt that seems to be rare, but still, my time is valuable).

This one? Check the post dates kiddo.
Again- which post (if any) went unanswered? Inquiring moderators want to know.

How about (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/cgi-bin/ubb/postdisplay.cgi?forum=Forum4&topic;=000114")this one(/url)? It still has not been responded to after my last post(a while ago) in it, butthe question still stands.

I think you definition of a response and mine are quite different.
It's clearly explained in the avara manuals how to create levels. It's clearly stated in the second message that no level creation program was made.
You question was answered.

Ah, you're just gloating. But in any other board I visit, it would have been responded to within a few hours, or it would not be responded to at all. But, yeah, you are right. Things get responded to within 5-6 days of the original post. Unfortunalty for me, I usually don't like to wait more than a few hours to get a response about something I feel is important to me.
Its just sad that people aren't into Avara as the few of us who are, are. Just mabye ten more people as into Avara as I, and this boards reply wait time would be cut down to 1-2 days maximum. sigh

Just to be clear, if Avara were more current, questions here would probably be answered more quickly. But that's just a fact of gaming. As a game gets older, some of the players move on to newer games.
I look forward to the day I can help moderate a newer game's webboard.
