Sigh ah, the memories...I remember the countless hours I wasted designing maps and whatnot for this game; it was my first shot at an actually customizable 3d game. I also remember the prosaic hours spent in such bliss, blowing apart HECTORs right and left.
Anyway, times have changed; I've gone over to the dark side of computing. Yes, as shocking as it may seem, I'm writing this on a Wintel POS. Avara is merely a memory to me; Quake and Unreal seem to dominate the scene, offering gratuitous amounts of carnage and mayhem. Where have the calming horizons of Avara gone? Where has the subtle beauty of cacking a bogey with a homing missile vanished to?
Gone, I thought, gone for good. But, to my surprise, I still find the Avara community alive and even thriving. Amazing, really; congratulations to everyone who keeps this place alive. This, my first visit, will most likely be my last, but I couldn't go with this unsaid. Thanks for keeping a part of my childhood alive.

Yes it lives because of the people. And unlike UT and Q3 which will soon fade(even are now) Avara will last forever. (Probably)
If it was up to Ambrosia it would have been dead long ago...

Is this true? Ambrosia wants to kill Avara? No! I won't let it happen! Avara is one of my favorite Ambrosia games...it can't die at the hands of its makers!

You know, that is a statement grounded in your opinion - thus falls under the term "libel". You don't speak for Ambrosia.
If Ambrosia wanted Avara to stop, they would pull the tracker. But they haven't. If they wanted to stop listening to people like you rant about how they don't support Avara, they would have closed this site down. They haven't.
I think it's time I start using this karma thing and knock people down one for saying stuff like this.

Ok, you missed my point. What I meant was they don't support it because its not profitable for them. I didn't mean they were actively trying to kill it, I meant they don't care about it.

What's to care about? The site is maintained, the web board functions, questions are answered, and the game still functions as programmed.
Again, what you've posted is your opinion that Ambrosia doesn't care about Avara. From a certain standpoint, I can see why you might say that - however from my standpoint it's not true.
Ambrosia didn't stop with Avara, nor should they stick to inproving that game continously and forsaking other projects. They have moved on - and better games will be built.
I can tell you this ---- Pop-Pop is extremely fun - and while it is a vastly different game than Avara, it's bringing me the same enjoyment Avara first did.
------------------ I'm sorry - I can't argue with you. I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent.

We're jsut both giving our opinions. And what does Pop-Pop have to do with an of this...
Hmm, what an interesting discussion...
