Nice, nice

I've got to admit, I like it. I'm glad to see avara.com isn't stagnating anymore, though my offer to buy it off you still stands, Andrew.

Good luck with everything.

(oh yeah - and drop the monospace!)

Actually, the site is still a mess. :frown:

But they're, like, doing something else with it... merging product pages into the main site... or so I thought. Hmm...

At any rate, I'll try to stay informed. I stlil wanna buy avara.com.

It gives me a special feeling deep within my heart to see the word "Scrub" attached to Vetere.

Don't ask me why.

Heh. 🙂

Nice to see that Ambrosia is doing something about Avara.com (it's been, like, a year). 😄

(dang, I need to post more stuff)

It's certainly fun to see the grand Robin Hood assigned the description "scrub". 😄

First, nice job on Avara.org -- it's very much what I'd have hoped Archer et al would have done with Avara.com. Unfortunately, they dropped the ball.

Second, I'd like to let you know what we're planning to do with Avara.com (and all of our product sites for that matter). Each site will follow a similar format, with the following user-maintainable areas:

a) Web Board -- this you've already seen in action; for those of you that haven't, check out:
(url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/cgi-bin/ubb/forumdisplay.cgi?action=topics&number;=4")http://www.AmbrosiaS...topics&number=4(/url)

🆒 Newswire -- a very cool news posting system that allows people to comment on news stories, news stories to be searched through, archived, etc. Users can post news, and the news admins determine what is real news, and release it (or they can post their own)

c) Add-On Files -- just what it sounds like -- files with descriptions -- people upload them, moderators review and release them. Much more automated than our current system

d) Web Links -- a hierachrial system of web-based links for the product -- users can submit them, admins validate and release them

IIn addition to this, we have a "storyboard" system that we can optionally implement, which would allow for things like the Avara stories to be posted and commented on in a rather cool format. Here's an example:
(url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/cgi-bin/ubb/forumdisplay.cgi?action=topics&number;=14")http://www.AmbrosiaS...opics&number=14(/url)

We're using it for our own Ambrosia Times newsletter.

The point of this email is to make you aware of these changes, and also to see if you'd like to be involved in the new site in any capacity.

Heh. There's nothing I'd like more than helping with that site. Sadly, I lack the most important thing: My own internet-connection. So I'm off the list.

Hi Andrew...

Since I've been fairly vocal about the stagnation of avara.com (and the ^%&$ link to the beta-level mailing list that Archer started, then left running) I would be happy to help in any way you can see me helping on the site.

Gee, maybe that would mean you can write off a trip to Hawaii... yeah- you need to "go over" something important with me that can only be done person to person, and on a beach near a volcano. 🙂
