I think its due to the overall lack of ferazel's wand players nowadays. The thing about ferazel's wand is; short of user created levels and worlds, there is 0% replay value, and those user created levels and worlds weren't created by the great grand master of ferazel's wand, ben spees himself, causing said levels and worlds to be.. diffrent. A diffrent person will create diffrent uses of varous objects, such as me and my 'teleporter to a rock you have to push™ŽŠ'. Ben has always been the master of decorating too. The point is; none of us are, or will, be the next ben spees of level making, thus our levels are inferior. Why ben's level creating style is so much better then ours, we can only guess. Another problem is the fact that I can't seem to ever stay working on one level for more then two minutes at a time, thus keeping my ideas mostly kept secret.
We just can't manage all of the things Ben Spees did. As much as we wish to, there are some things in MASCOT none of us understand so we can't compete with Ben.
Also no one plays Ferazel anymore! :frown: We get a new member once every 9 months and they barely ever stay as longs as we regulars.(MonsterLady, Dr. Tall, MDWGMalc, lizwiz, me, ferazel_09 and so on)

I am so sick of everyone complaining and whining about the good old days. OBW and Dr. Tall are the only ones who continue any in fighting and with Dr. Tall Land complete, it seems that only OBW has secret webboards. Aschaaf_86 was helpful and a decent level creator and all, but he wasn't a God. So he left, so what. His departure should not make him into something more than he was.
Ferazel never had an empire. It is more of a community and a rather healthy community at that. There are currently many great worlds in production. BN is being completed, Extemporaneous X is under construction, cat99, and Malcolm's worlds seem to be progressing nicely. So if you really want to revive the Ferazel's Wand Community do something. Don't whine about the good old days or make a call to arms. In your absence we have survived and continued in our own little way. The boards don't need a savoir rather continued mild support. So please stop the :frown:

I don't know about you guys, but I've been spending most of my "ferazel" allocated time trying to beat Dr. Tall land. (See my question on the regular board if anyone would like to help me...hint, hint)
We do have a few new members - Liz the Wiz, Corkmaster - just to name a couple.
And there have been some great third party levels. Spamguy is working on an extension of BN.
The banning of Ben has put quite a crimp in the availability of the creator's input.
We must be strong! We must not fail! Ummm....everyone must give copies of FW to everyone they know. (bonafide, paid for copies, of course). For Christmas? (a little late) Easter? Victoria Day?
We need a sale! (Canadian $ is less than US$.62 - It would cost me CAD$50 for a US$30 game.) Great time for everyone to come up to Canada on vacation though!

Gah, I hate topics like this. The board vitality hardly rests on one or two people. People come in and out of discussion boards all the dang time. One year from now there will be a whole new circle of posters here. Some of them will be people you see posting here currently, but many of them will be different and many of the people now posting will not be. Why does that mean the board is dying? Geesh. You're absolutely right. Ice, it's very bad form to repeat personal conversations and/or mail on a public board. Always get permission. People have done this to me and I really hate it! Privacy should be respected. Just a gentle reminder. We won't bash you death with our spiky clubs...THIS time.

Zelda- On the topic of locking... topics, where do you stand on posts that question the great Andrew and his choice to ban Ben? I was wondering since I feel it is an injustice, especially, when we are given no reasons for his banning. Didn't Andrew say that the two parted on friendly terms? A ban doesn't seem to friendly. And I agree that Ben's lack of presence is both demoralizing, it seems as though Ambrosia is against Ferazel, and counter-productive. As Overrider said, there is some stuff we don't know. There is a great amount of knowledge about MASCOT, known only due to Ben's insightful postings, when he was allowed. If Ben were un-banned maybe he could tell us how to work with pxMids. I am sure he would be to busy to post frequently, but his presence would bring a certain validation to these boards. It appears that even Ben does not know the cause of his banning. So, Zelda, can we launch a "Un-Ban Ben" campaign?
Wow. This topic has grown ALOT since 4 AM.
In my opinion, we SHOULD forget Achaaf and so on. The reason behind the lack of topics is that since we are now (alot) more skilled with mascot, we no longer have questions to ask. Due to the lack of ferazel players, that creates a lack of new mascot users, causing another lack of questions. If you look back, its almost always been this way, except with more questions, making it look like there were more of us then there really are. It's been just nine days and one year since I got the full version of Ferazel's Wand, and about seven or so days and one year since I discovered mascot and this board. I find myself checking this board about twice a day, hoping achaaf or someone else will return, or some newbie to mascot will ask another question, but it never happens.
Maybe it's time I vanish too. It would certainly decrease the evilness on this board by about 12.5% (50% is dr.tall, 12% for emperor ent, 12.5% of the evil is spamguy, 17% for AVN, and the other 1% is for about everyone else.)
The thing that annoys me the most about the new levels is that it seems they require you to blast through a wall somewhere with no hinting to it, causing the player to need to use mascot to discover these unhinted destroyable walls that lead to buttons to open stone doors that need to be opened, and at the same time ruining the rest of the level for the player. I don't think its ever been exactly like that as far as I know, but I hope it never is as such. Sometimes Ben would do such a thing, but not without a hint... somewhere. Having required objects or something behind full screens of wall isn't a very good plan, and it drives your players more insane then me. I know that I seem to be ranting for no real reason, but I'm really REALLY bored.
Now that thats done, maybe I'll try to stop working on a level when its finished, not two minutes from the creation of the level.

Only 12.5%?!? I must be doing something wrong! Actually, I think this is one of the nicest, least-evil boards in existence. I don't see anyone as evil here, not even close. There is a little immaturity, and a little misguidedness. But no more. That being said...

Yep, he's not a great level maker. But he did kinda keep OBW working. We seem to have slowed down production tremendously.
I'm not that upset. Maybe my post was a little more serious than it was supposed to be. Really, all I was saying was that we seem to have decreased in topics. Anyway, you seem to have proven that when there is a topic to post on, it becomes postified.

Agreed. I think that lizwiz is the only new member (relatively) to stay around long enough to make signficiant contributions.
