Earthling's Guide To Ares: Leave the Play on this machine option checked. If youve arranged with your client to have password protection for the game, make sure you enter it correctly, or the client wont be able to join your game, and you wont be notified of his failure to join.
What happens if you unselect this? do you get to watch the game?

I'd guess that if the "host" unchecks it, then the "host" is considered the visitor, and the "visitor" is considered the host.

There's a separate option for that: "Host Is Player 2"
Not necessarily; "Host is Player 2" changes what the computer considers to be "Player 0" and "Player 1," but it has no effect upon who is host/visitor.

Huh?

he means that there is a difference between those two buttons which makes lots of sense. The "host as player two" button merely changed the starting locations of each person. The other button probably changes whos computer the game will be using to compute the data. I suppose that if the host had an old performa and the joiner had a g4 you would want to run it on the faster computer, and check the "not play on your machine".

it seems to me that PLAY is the key word here. playing seems to involve playing the game, not who hosts. Its probably an option so you can have a ares server which 2 people can connect to to play games(say they both have a firewall and cant host games, only join so they get someone else to host a server for them)
hey Pallas Athene, how come everytime i try to contact you on AIM you say: This away message is less specific than certain nuclear weapons. I am Onii7 there. So please now that you know who I am, respond.

You have heard of away messages, haven't you? They mean that the person is "away."
Oh, btw i did test this out. Turns out it simply does not work with Ares. I suspect it may be a standard feature of the NetSprocket dialog.

Yes, but you are always on, but always away. I was just wondering if you didn't receive my messages.
