Getting Plug-Ins To The Website

I have created a plug and would like to submit it to Ambrosia, but cannot seem to do so. I have fufilled all the requirements, it is an SEA file in macbinary, but the submit button doesn't do anything. Can anyone tell me if I'm doing something wrong or if the button doesn't work or even if it's my ISP is screwed up. Any help would be appreciated greatly.

What browser are you using? If you're not using NS4.7/6.1 or IE5, I'd recommed downloading them from: (url="http://"http://www.netscape.com")www.netscape.com(/url) (url="http://"http://www.microsoft.com/mac")www.microsoft.com/mac(/url)

Right now I am just using the AOL browser (Maybe that's why....) but I have also tried it with Netscape, and it still didn't seem to work. I'd try attaching it to an E-mail and sending it to them, but I don't think they'll accept it anywhere except where that submit button leads.

I'm sure you're not the first person to complain about this lately, although having said that, a plug-in was submitted successfully only this morning.

Surprisingly enough, I can also tell you now that it's nothing to do with the AOL browser, so I have no idea what's going on.

Hmph

That's really weird. I've been trying since Thanksgiving to get this in, but the submit button doesn't do anything. I just finished another plug about fifteen minutes ago too, and I need to get this figured out. I wonder if it's a problem actually within the settings of my version of AOL (the AOL on my computer). Does anyone know how to make it so that you are able to attach files to an E-mail, because I've also just noticed that I can't do that either. That might be what is going on, but I don't know how to fix it.

Is your plug-in entitled 'doomsdayship'?

I really really REALLY wish people would leave their contact details when they submitted things.

No, the one I was going to submit is called "Audemedons Attack". Simple name for a simple plug. You can play the game through as the Audemedon. No frills, but it is a small, fun plug. "Those Interrupting Salrillians..." is still the most downloaded plug, maybe because it was almost the first one released.

Well, it's no help whatsoever, but all I can say is that I've never seen it.

I have submitted plugs in the past using Netscape 4.5. After clicking the submit button it appears as if nothing happens, this is because there is no progress dialogue box. In fact the plug is being transmitted. You just have to trust the force here(!).

If you open the Remote Access control panel and arrange it so that you can see its send/receive progress bars you will be able to verify whether or not your computer is transmitting the data after you click the submit button. This way you don't have to rely entirely on the force... 🙂

Oh, so it is another bug hunt then...

When I submitted my first files to Ares, I became suspicious of this 'submit' button, when it appeared to do nothing for an extended period of time. I followed my instincts, and lo and behold, it loaded (after a while). Try re-submitting with a smaller file, or simply wait for a while before deciding that it doesn't work.

There are only 3 kinds of people: those who can count, and those who can't.

The file I've been trying to submit is only 500k, and I've tried multiple times. When I look at the status bar on the bottom nothing changes at all. Even when you use Netscape 4.5 can you leave the web page after the file begins transmitting or are you stuck there like you are when you download?

There's no real way of tracking the progress of an upload. From memory, it doesn't show anything until the upload actually completes. I reccomend:

Click the upload button.

Wander off for half an hour, making sure the computer is left undisturbed.

Then return. If a new window hasn't appeared telling you it isn't complete, you have a problem. If one has, it's just a matter of giving it enough time.

I will give that a try, but wouldn't there be some frustrated weboard moderater somewhere with about seven incomplete copies of my plug?

Ahh yes.. I should not have doubted the force, for it works in mysterious ways. I successfully uploaded my two plugs and you will now be able to play either Audemedons Attack! or Obain by downloading them from the add-ons website. Thanks a lot for all the help everyone.
