Extemporaneous Progress Log

I am having difficulty dealing with the Goblin Chief. What was the behavior of the Goblin Chief when you battled him, MonsterLady? Did he fight back or just play pacifist?

If I can't get him to work, do you have any suggestions on what should be there instead?

Back to the Gauntlet for me.

Goblin Chief was ... 'pacifist' is a good word! Had some of my "cheating" fireseeds left when I got there and he just stood there until the first one exploded, then jumped up and I got him with a second one.

Forgot to tell you about that! If you can't get him to work... hmm - what HAVEN'T you used yet in Extemporaneous?

I've been trying to get through without cheating, and there's just too many acid baths to make it through (if they don't get me the armadillos do - need to save the fireseeds for later on, so I try to kill them manually and that ends up using up all my health).

Did find the way to get the fireseeds (figured out your "hint", eventually...), but will have to see how many I have from the previous levels in real game play. Haven't figured out how to get the smite ring above the transporter at the end of the passage from the first doorway.

Tough level, but just a few more health potions, or maybe one strategically placed (and well hidden) purple pool would really help.

I reccommend using your ice pick. It deals twice the blow of a Fireball. I added two zirdium brines, some torches, and made several areas passable without enduring pain.

So the Goblin Chief moved after being attacked, interesting...
I am having great difficulty, and unless I get a response to the Big Boss Trouble topic, the chief will be removed.
Any suggestions on what can replace him?

I have just sent out Extemporaneous 0.47 to the beta testers.

MonsterLady: You will be interested, (prehaps disapointed, prehaps relieved) at how I solved the Goblin Chief problem.

Haven't gotten to the Goblin Chief spot yet. Spent all my holiday (Canada Day was Sunday, but got yesterday off) running through the original levels.

Notes:

You moved the secret entrance to get the goodies at the end of the first level! No fair! Found it eventually.

MMT - there is a xichron right at the beginning I've never been able to get. Is it getable? (screws up my totals). Otherwise, all previous problems seem to have been solved.

Flight & Plight - I'd recommend you add a "secret" spot to the rez necklace. Otherwise it is still sitting there and the totals are all 100% - players should have to get it to get 100%.

Queen Mab - still problems with talking to the guards around Queen Mab - conversation box comes up at the guard but is all garbled. Have to "esc" to carry on. The cloud that carries up to Queen Mab doesn't work (the one to go up to the exit does work).

You will remember to remove the extra transporters you added to the early levels?

With all the fireseeds from the previous levels I seem have plenty for the Gauntlet, although I haven't finished the revised level yet.

That's it for now.

I will remove that right now.

How about I make them say something like, "Stop and stand down, you may not pass!"

I just realized that The Gauntlet only took one month to complete. That's pretty good, by my standards.

I have just begun work on Scorched Earth. I am very excited, because it is looking very nice. 😄 This level will probably take much less then a month. It is a lot smaller and less complicated then the Gauntlet.

Back to Scorched Earth for me. 😄

Gauntlet - arghhh!

You've added stuff - most of it great (like purple pools), but now I can't get the fourth door open. I can see the button up above, and the habnabit sitting to the left, but can't get to either one. HINT please????

Also haven't figured out how to get to the purple pool to the right of the purple pool you added after the cannons, below the springs (if that makes sense). It probably is accessible after the fourth door, so I'm not worrying about it too much (yet).

Overrider - you're going to enjoy this level set!!

Overrider- Maybe a week. I have decided to add Scorched Earth to the next release. That means it will take a bit longer. Sorry.

Scorched Earth is 85% done.

If you climb up to the top, near the spike balls. You can fire and climb in. I think you will enjoy the conversation.

No that pool is available before that. There are two buttons, one before the cannons, but after the Goblins. And another button after the cannons and the second group of Goblins. If you press both buttons and do a little spinning you will be able to get in.

I have just sent Scorched Earth to the beta testers. It only took me one day to make the level - from scratch. I am very proud. 🙂 If all goes well, Extemporaneous 0.5, with 7 levels, will be released to the public very shortly - as in a few days from no.

Rec'd Scorched Earth. Guess I'll be staying up late again tonight...

Thanks for the hint on the Gauntlet. I'd tried there, but must not have hit the right spot. Kept trying and eventually got it. Yes, I did enjoy the conversation!

Still have to try to find all the secrets in the Gauntlet - only had 74% when I'd finished the level. Got through without cheating too! Used up most of my potions but use of the purple pools meant I didn't get completely frustrated. (Although there are a few spots it took multiple tries to get through.) One more save spot somewhere in the doors area (second one especially) would be nice, but I know you're limited out...

No bugs to speak of.... Will report on Scorched Earth later.

I trust that opinion Monsterlady

I know how Ambrosa says you shouldn't rush things out, so they can be made their best and I guess it's the same with these but I really would like a new set!

Also, I like the shot Ent

A note to beta Testers:
Currently the beta testers are:
MonsterLady
Zelda
Ferazel Freak
ferazel_09
MonsterLady and Zelda seem to be the only ones actually beta testing, so is it ok if I remove Ferazel Freak and ferazel_09 from future beta testing?

Also, MonsterLady:
You guys aren't done beta testing forever. Actually, there will be quite a hiatus between this beta and the next one.

Overrider:
If my beta testers think The Gauntlet and Scorched Earth are all set, I could do a public release as early as tommorrow.

I am going to go make a light map for the Gauntlet and Scorched Earth right now.

MonsterLady:
Do you have any objections to me releasing it today? Did you find any bugs? I will run throught the entire thing to make sure all exits work, and then....

Sorry I didn't respond sooner - was in the big smoke (Vancouver) all day today.

Haven't been able to get all the way through Scorched Earth yet, but no "bugs" found so far (just "deception").

It is better to remain silent and be thought an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. (I wish I could remember this before posting!)

Scorched Earth - done - no obvious bugs. Found 100% secrets & xichrons (eventually), but missed killing a couple - only 92% enemies. Not going to go back again - have a football game to watch.

However - after the third(?) door there is a pedestal to the left of the door. It's the type that usually has something on it, but there was nothing there (just in case you'd intended to have something there.

Otherwise - okay.

Good. Tomorrow, I will check all exits. If everything is in order - I will release it tomorrow.

I have check Scorched Earth a few times myself - and it seemed fine. I just have to make sure the levels exits work right.
