Just made possible finally today..Magchat is now availiable to download and play on. It is basically a program identical to Gameranger that you can play games off of. It is made specifically for MaG members, however it can be used by anybody...

check it out, it's a cool program and it'll work perfectly now that GR is down and even when GR is up.
For those not familiar on how to host and join games without using GR read the Earthling's guide to ares included with either ares 1.1.1 or ares 1.2. This is a good way to play ares games without GR. so check it out.

It also seems once you download the program you can't seem to connect to magchat...
I will have to talk to krule about this. He is supposively hosting magchat. I don't think he is remembering to host the magchat while he hosts the hotline server..I'll try to get krule to remember to host magchat for all of you by tonight. BTW: There shouldn't be any problems getting magchat to download. If the link doesn't work above, simply follow the links on the main page of MAG and you'll be downloading it in no time soon.

I was about to say that it wouldn't connect. Also, the 'ok' button on the preferences window doesn't work, so I'm kind of stuck listening to that irritating sound play over and over.

Why does the IP have to be diiferent?

You have to change the ip because a diff. person is hosting magchat than the original person who made it.

MagChat will not work with dsl, a false ip scheme, or behind a firewall. They're working on it...
